Out of a million different fitness trends of the 21st century, Crossfit has stood the test of time. After more than ten years it is consistently gaining popularity and has no signs of stopping. Everyone has heard of it, but what is Crossfit exactly?
The official definition is “constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity”. In more simple words, this training method combines gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, and athletics, among other disciplines, to make you a well-rounded, fit and functional human being. Basically, the idea of Crossfit is not to specialize in one type of activity, but to improve the body in such a way that it would be prepared for all kinds of physical feats.
People seem to like this approach to training, as Crossfit gyms or “boxes” started to spread like fire all over the globe. The sport’s popularity increased rapidly with global coverage of the Crossfit Games.
