A beginner’s guide to building intuition. Why You Should Trust Your Intuition – 5 Important Intuition Quotes
The only real, valuable thing is intuition. – Albert Einstein
In one way or another and at some point in our lives, most of us have experienced the feeling of our intuition. It is often referred to as our ‘gut instinct’ or our ‘inner knowing’, and the concept is not new. In fact, the power of intuition has been long discussed, and used, by the world’s great philosophers, artists and teachers.
Follow your instincts. That’s where true wisdom manifests itself. – Oprah Winfrey
But even if we know that we have intuition, how can we learn to tap into it and use it in our lives?
The first step to tapping into our inner knowing is to be still. If your head is running a million miles an hour it’s going to drown out the softer voice of your intuition. Learning to meditate and practice deep breathing will help you get used to calming the mind. Think of yourself as a cup, if you are already filled with water (thoughts) how can there be room for anything else to come through?
There is a universal, intelligent, life force that exists within everyone and everything. It resides within each one of us as a deep wisdom, an inner knowing. We can access this wonderful source of knowledge and wisdom through our intuition, an inner sense that tells us what feels right and true for us at any given moment. – Shakti Gawain
Once you start to bring more stillness into your life, you will naturally get better at noticing the little ways in which your intuition speaks to you. It could be as simple as thinking about someone, only to have them call you in the very next moment. This is something we may regularly fob off as a coincidence, but when you start to notice them, you can also build upon them. Intuition is like any other ‘muscle’ you need to strengthen it in order for it to perform at its peak.
The power of intuitive understanding will protect you from harm until the end of your days. – Lao Tzu
Another great way to practice honing your intuition is to write in a journal. By using the hands and focusing your attention on your thoughts, you are unifying all aspects of yourself and therefore open the gateway for your intuition to speak. Your writing does not need to be ‘good’, ‘stream of consciousness’ is definitely the way to go when journaling. What comes out doesn’t matter either, write about your dog, your cat, your job, and what not- just do it regularly.
If the single man plant himself indomitably on his instincts, and there abide, the huge world will come round to him. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
When you tap into your intuition, you are opening up a whole new and unused level of communication. You become more in tune with nature, your family and friends and of course, yourself. Get practicing and leave a comment below on how you go with it!
