Al Pacino delivers one of the most epic and inspirational speeches of all time in the movie, Any Given Sunday. The scene takes place before their final game is widely considered one of the best motivational speeches of all time. While the scene is before the final game of their football season it has plenty of lessons that you can implement into your life as well.

Use the Al Pacino Speech “Inches” for an instant hit of motivation to work hard and never give up.

You Can Always Make Your Comeback

“We can fight our way back into the light. We can climb out of hell. One inch, at a time.” — Al Pacino

No matter where you are in life you can always climb back into the light. Like Al Pacino said, “One inch at a time.” Progress doesn’t have to mean massive results. If you want to change your life start by making one small change every single day. Strive to get just a little better each day.

Successful people have learned that it’s about what you do on a daily basis not once a year that matters in the end.

Don’t Take Anything for Granted

“You know when you get old in life things get taken from you. That’s part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff.” — Al Pacino

It’s easy to take normal, everyday things in your life for granted. Your job, family, car, house, and friends become so familiar it feels normal. But you need to find time in your life to be grateful for all that you already have on a daily basis. Whether it’s writing in a gratitude journal, complimenting one person a day or saying thanks to anyone you can. Live a life of gratitude to attract more great memories, experiences, and people into your future.

Don’t Underestimate Teamwork

“On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We CLAW with our fingernails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that’s going to make the difference between WINNING and LOSING.” — Al Pacino

Whether you are a leader or part of a team at work, you have to show your team that you are willing to go that inch for them. Even at home with your spouse, teamwork is crucial to success. Strive to go above and beyond at work, home, and with friends to be greatly rewarded.

Effort Always Wins

Effort beats talent 100% of the time. You can’t guarantee to be the most talented but you can always choose to work the hardest. If you have a growth mindset and put in the work your effort will shine through. It will attract new people into your life, build confidence, and belief in yourself. Everyone has the same 24 hours, maximize your time so that no one outworks you.

As Al Pacino said, “In any fight, it’s the guy that’s willing to go that inch. And I know if I am going to have any life anymore it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch because that’s what living is.” Live your life with passion, drive, and maximum effort. Eventually, all those little things will add up to your ultimate victory.

I thought the speech Al Pacino gave as blind Lt. Col. Slate in the movie The Scent of a Woman was his best. That speech, I assumed, was what won him that year’s Academy Award. But then I may be wrong.
