<p>I’ve gone long periods feeling inspired, determined, creative, blessed, grateful, honored, passionate, thankful and connected to the magic of this world and I’ve gone through periods of suffering so dark I couldn’t see anything GOOD in my life.</p>
<p>I’ve been depressed and suicidal. I’ve been in love with life, completely, and fully.</p>
<p>I’ve felt like I can easily shoulder the burden of all of humanity on my strong shoulders without a problem&#8230; and I’ve felt powerless to my own inner judgements.</p>

<h2><em>In short I’ve lived the most beautiful highs and the darkest and lowest of lows&#8230; all within one life&#8230; and all, it seems, in my own mind. But now I know WHY I’ve felt these extremes, and I know HOW to direct my life in whatever direction I CHOOSE.</em></h2>

<p>I know WHY I slip up and I know HOW to get back on track. This is how I explain it, and this is how I KNOW to keep the darkness away&#8230; not only keep it away, but live WHATEVER LIFE I CHOOSE TO LIVE.</p>

Money &#8211; no problem.<br />
Joy, laughter, genuine happiness &#8211; easy. Wonder and AWE &#8211; know how to get there.</p>
<p>Here’s how it works&#8230;</p>
<p>In my life there are demons&#8230;. Devils&#8230; I don’t know why they are here or how they got here, but they seem to have been around from day one.</p>
<p>Sometimes I am consumed by them, but mostly they are either in the background &#8211; like an uneasiness or a reminder.<br />
The demons are:<br />
SELF-DOUBT<br />
SELF-JUDGEMENT<br />
DEPRESSION<br />
FEELING UNWORTHY and INSIGNIFICANT<br />
SERIOUSNESS<br />
BAD HABITS<br />
UNCERTAINTY<br />
FEELING POWERLESS</p>
<p>I know the demons will never leave, they’ll always be there, and I’m at peace with that &#8211; but I DO KNOW how to keep them at bay&#8230; out of sight and out of mind&#8230;. so I can see mostly the beauty, the GREAT in my life.</p>

<h2><em>You see, the demons get closer the WORSE you feel about your life&#8230; but they get further away THE BETTER your life feels to you. I keep the demons away by FOCUSING on BETTER THINGS. Consistently. I keep the demons away with the SELF-WORK I put in EVERY SINGLE DAY.</em></h2>

<p>It’s the DAILY PRACTICES I implement that keep the darkness OUT and let the light shine over my life to GROW the areas I want to grow.</p>

<h2><em>Wherever I CHOOSE to shine the light on MY LIFE&#8230; I know will GROW the MOST. I can choose to shine the light on GRATITUDE&#8230; things that ARE GREAT in my life&#8230; and FEEL THAT&#8230; or I can shine it on what is NOT there and feel LACK.</em></h2>

<p>When I shine the light on LACK the demons take a step closer. If I continue to focus on LACK, the demons will eventually consume me. The SELF-DOUBT will take over, the DEPRESSION will return along with the feelings of unworthiness and insignificance.</p>
<p>When I shine the light on something positive and powerful&#8230; they go more into the background, further away from my life. When I choose to READ something powerful and positive the demons retreat. When I choose to meditate, or pray, or write what I am grateful for&#8230; the demons disappear. They can’t stay around the LIGHT&#8230; so when I consistently shine that light over areas in my life I WANT TO IMPROVE&#8230; my life DOES IMPROVE.</p>
<p>When I SEEK THE GOOD&#8230; eventually I find the GOOD. When I find the GOOD I BELIEVE in the GOOD.</p>
<p>I don’t see the demons anymore. They are so far away that they are unnoticeable&#8230; but when I feel their presence in the distance I know it is because I have slipped back into bad habits.</p>
<p>I just remind myself WHY I am committed to do this work everyday&#8230; BECAUSE it FEELS GOOD&#8230; because it makes my life better, and the ripple effect of that is so many more lives will be better.</p>

<h2><em>Every day I commit to SEEK THE GOOD. To consciously look for the good in my life, in others, in the world around me.</em><br />
<em>I commit to GRATITUDE. Reminding myself what IS GREAT already in my life gives me power and strength nothing on this earth can match.</em></h2>

<p>I commit to <a href="https://www.fearlessmotivation.com/self-help-books/"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">READING</span></strong></a> and LEARNING more in self-development, anything and everything that can improve my SELF.<br />
I commit to meditation and breathing exercises &#8211; anything that gives me more EASE and PEACE&#8230; which gives me more CLARITY in thought.<br />

I commit to CHALLENGE myself to GROW. Physically and mentally. I know through tests and challenges I GROW the most and learn the most about myself.<br />
I commit to HONESTY and <a href="https://www.fearlessmotivation.com/2019/04/29/do-the-right-thing-even-when-no-one-is-watching-its-called-integrity/"><strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">INTEGRITY</span></strong></a>. No matter the cost. No matter the consequences. Knowing I can go to the end with my held held high. No regrets.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We all fail at something in our lives, and if we are positive about it, we let it become a learning experience. Hitting rock bottom is different – when you encounter complete and utter failure in all areas of your life, it is very hard to see anything positive about it at all. This condition is often accompanied by severe depression, which will really challenge you.</p>
<p>However, being at your lowest possible level <strong>can</strong> be a positive experience, in a way. It is an excellent opportunity to reinvent your life from scratch. When things cannot get any worse, it means that whatever you decide to do is going to be an improvement, <strong>the only way is UP!</strong> even if ever so slightly.</p>
<p>But, what exactly should you do to pick yourself up and begin taking control of your life again?</p>
<h2><strong>Rising from the Depths: What to Do When You Hit Rock Bottom</strong></h2>
<h2><span style="color: #3cbc87;">1</span>. Start small and focus on one thing at a time</h2>
<p>So, you are down at the deep end and have no idea how to get out or where to start. Some life coaches would suggest that you try to turn things around immediately, deciding to put every effort into changing your life this very minute and show the world a miraculous comeback. <strong>Don’t fall into this trap</strong> – in fact, it is about the worst thing you can do in this situation.</p>
<p>While it is possible to muster enough energy and determination to maintain this tempo for a little while, very few people are capable of changing their life in one fell swoop. By the way, this is the reason why most people fail at their New Year resolutions. Trying to change everything may sound like an alluring and motivating goal, but you will most likely run out of steam after a few days, your own inability to adhere to your new regimen will cause you to abandon it in its entirety, and this will plunge you deeper into depression.</p>
<p>Instead, <strong>focus on making small steps towards a single goal</strong>. When you hit rock bottom, improvement in any area of your life is welcome, and small successes will help you get used to achieving something, conditioning you for further progress.</p>

<p>Another tactic often recommended is visualizing your ideal life after you’ve achieved total success. Allegedly visualizing your success motivates you to move forward and apply effort towards achieving it. While it may work in some cases, it certainly isn’t so when you hit rock bottom. Imagining driving a Lamborghini, wearing a <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.watchshopping.com/rolex/cellini/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rolex Cellini</a></span> timepiece and owning a private island will be too jarring if your life is too far removed from this image. It won’t motivate you to try harder – on the contrary, subconsciously it will be a constant reminder that any effort on your part is doomed.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #3cbc87;">3</span>. Reach out to other people</h2>
<p>People going through a rough patch in their lives tend to either close in on themselves and avoid other people or drag them down with themselves, causing other people to avoid them. Both approaches are equally harmful. If you experience severe problems in your life, some <span style="color: #333333;"><a style="color: #333333;" href="https://www.fearlessmotivation.com/coaching/">help from outside</a></span> may be exactly what you need. Sometimes it is not even direct help but inspiration and motivation you get from getting in touch with people who take an active part in life. Just make sure that your motivation for reaching out is to accept help and support and not to make others as miserable as you are now.</p>

<p>Why should you force yourself to try harder? Any effort you apply towards getting on your feet is likely to lose its momentum sooner or later if you don’t decide it for yourself.</p>

<p>We tend to judge success by the day.. Not seeing the bigger picture. A perfect example of not seeing the forest for the trees. We also tie our dreams to some external validation which will never be enough motivation to keep going. We set these huge goals without considering how long it will take achieve them, or acquire the new skills required to do so. Thus, we throw in the towel when things get difficult. The reasons why we give up are more subtle. Below are the reasons we give up, and how to counterattack..</p>
<h2><strong>We Give Up Because We Lack GRIT <span style="color: #999999;">| Ways to Counter Attack</span></strong></h2>
<p>Ted Geisel’s <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.elitereaders.com/dr-seuss-rejection-story/?cn-reloaded=1">manuscript was rejected by 27 different publishers</a></span>; he almost burned it, but he tried one more time under the pen name Dr Seuss (this is GRIT). The rest, as they say, is history.</p>
<p>GRIT is the inner courage, and the determination to do whatever needs to be done despite the challenges. Most people lack this, often because we never had to get our hands dirty, and that’s why we give up.</p>
<p>To counterattack, you have to develop GRIT. Start by pursuing your interests, practice to be competent, connect with a higher purpose, cultivate hope, and get a gritty community.</p>

<p>Discipline is doing the right thing for yourself despite the circumstances. It is practising self-restraint, pushing ahead even when it would be easier to give up. Most people who throw in the towel lack this tenacity. They give in to indulgences when restraint becomes difficult.</p>

We spend time on pointless ventures, time we should spend acquiring new skills and working on our goals. To overcome, you have to set a schedule and stick to it. You have to prioritise and set boundaries.</p>

<p>To achieve your dreams, or acquire what you desire, you have to rinse and repeat everything you do daily. Think of striking an oak tree with an axe a thousand times. If you hit it in 1000 different places, you will not bring it down. But strike it a thousand times in the same spot, and you will bring it down.</p>
<p>Repetition reduces dopamine release, and you are no longer excited about what you are doing. Thus, you throw in the towel as you&#8217;re chasing excitement. However, we have to be comfortable with repetitiveness to get to our goals. Try changing how you perform the tasks to prevent the risk of boredom. Changing your workspace or working in a coffee shop or a shared workspace could help. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But as you know, death comes for everyone eventually. If you’re like most people, you accept that and don’t try to do too much research to learn more. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Besides, people know they should exercise more and eat less yet most people are constantly eating fast food and watching Netflix instead of exercising. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But what if there was a way to put your old beliefs aside and learn how to stop yourself from getting older? </span></p>
<h1><strong>The Science of Cells That Never Get Old</strong></h1>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So can you really stop aging? Yes and no, according to expert biologist Elizabeth Blackburn. She talks more about it in her epic TED Talk, “The science of cells that never get old.” </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The talk gets very in-depth on the science of aging and stress. It&#8217;s a bit complicated so here&#8217;s a quick summary if you don’t have time for the 20-minute video. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Elizabeth studied the DNA known as chromosomes, specifically telomeres. At the end of the chromosome are known as telomeres. </span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">In her research, she found that chromosome wear and tear is inevitable in the duplication process of cells. But she found that some cells called Tetrahymena never get old and die like the others. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">She found that <span style="color: #333333;"><strong>stress</strong></span> was the biggest indicator of the shortening of these chromosomes. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Main point → More stress, equals more destruction of chromosomes which means the quicker you’ll meet the grim reaper.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Again this is very simplified but it shows the power of stress on your body. And most people live in a common state of stress all the time. Even little worries like getting mad at traffic or frustrated with people on social media is a stress. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The key to a long and healthy life is one with less stress. Here’s how you can do it.</span></p>

The second group of people see a stressful situation as a challenge and actually get energy from it. Instead of getting mad or angry they get energized to find a solution. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To act more like the second group you need to have the right habits and routines to set yourself up for success. Use these tricks to stay prepared for inevitable stressful situations.</span></p>

<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Exercise</strong>: Spend at least 30 minutes per day exercising. This will help keep cortisol levels low and stay energized.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Eat Healthy Foods</strong>: High fat, high carb foot will rob you of energy and make it hard for your body to process everything. Try and meal prep to avoid the temptation of cheap and easy to access fast food.</span></li>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Studies have shown that your subconscious is very active at two times during the day — morning and night. While you drift off to sleep your subconscious is wide awake. Otherwise, blood wouldn’t make its way to your heart while you were sleeping.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is why it’s so important to go to bed with the right intention.</span></p>
<p><strong>The Power of the Subconscious Mind</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As Thomas Edison said, <em>“Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious mind.”</em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The reason he recommends this is because while you sleep, your mind is working like normal. If you give it a question before bed it can help you find ways to help you answer it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Think back to the last time you went to bed with a question (not a worry) and woke up in the middle of the night with an answer. Or right when you woke up and were in the shower or meditating?</span></p>

It’s why so many people lie in bed restless and unable to get quality sleep.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While some hardcore digital detoxers might have you remove phones from your bedroom, I’m not sure that’s very practical. Instead, try to minimize technology or screens at least 60 minutes before bed if you have trouble sleeping. </span></p>
<h2><b>Starting Your Day Reactive</b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Successful people aren’t waking up and scrolling through social media. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">As Mel Robbins said in The 5 Second Rule,</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> “ Imagine Bill Gates or Oprah Winfrey. Do you think they are lying in bed scrolling through social media?” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Of course not! So why are you? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This year I’ve made it a point to ignore my phone for at least one hour when I wake up. I’ll use it for guided meditation but I don’t look at the text, social media, or emails. Anytime I even look at one wrong email I find myself getting pissed off, frustrated and reactive. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You want to start your day energizing yourself, not giving your energy away to mindless social media or maybe even worse, the news. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Instead, focus on creating in the first hour. Work on yourself by reading a book, meditating, observing your thoughts or writing in a journal.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you are dependent on your device, you most likely feel anxious and depressed when you aren’t using it. Quit seeking a quick hit of dopamine from Twitter or Instagram and only use social media at specific times. A good example would be 10-minute windows at lunch or after work. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you are struggling to find happiness, pleasure, and a relaxed mood put the phone down and do something else. Run, exercise, take a walk or meet up with a friend. </span></p>
<h2><b>Lose Relationships</b></h2>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you can’t go out to dinner with your significant other or friends without your phone you might have a problem. Instead, put it on airplane mode and keep it off the table. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t even have it out where you can see it. This will subconsciously show your brain that you are still thinking about it. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Only you know how much your technology is hurting certain parts of your life. Since I’ve made the changes this year I can say 100% that it’s helped increase my happiness and decrease worry, stress, and anxiety. The longer I go without looking at my phone the prouder I am. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This year I started actively trying to start controlling my technology instead of it controlling me! </span></p>

<h2>1. GIVE UP the fear of failure.. You want to be successful?</h2>
<p>Fear is the barrier, and fearing failure just adds a huge, unnecessary wall that blocks you from your happiness, self-fulfillment, personal growth, opportunities, and worst of all, your dreams.. When <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.fearlessmotivation.com/2017/07/04/fear-will-not-stop-me-motivational-speech/">you fear failure</a></span>, all you’re doing is setting yourself up to fail. I used to be terrified to fail. I used to be so scared of it that I wouldn’t even begin the things I wanted to begin. The thought of working hard for something day in and day out, not having it work out, was my biggest fear.</p>
<p>But, instead of being afraid and have that fear hold me back I decided to look at it differently. First of all, I noticed that I was creating that fear in my own head. I was worried about something that was not even happening in the physical world, just in my mind. So, it was imaginary. Then I noticed every single time I “failed” at something, I learned from it and it guided me to something greater. It helped me grow and become the person I am today. I was not failing, I was learning. Failure was not a barrier, it was a guiding force.</p>
<p>Successful celebrities like Michael Jordan, Walt Disney, the Beatles, Oprah, Einstein, Steve Jobs failed dozens of times on their paths to success. But, they were not failures because they chose to get back up and keep going no matter what. And clearly it worked out for them! So, understand that failing is necessary to achieve the life you want. Don’t worry about failing, and taking a risk. Go ahead and follow your dreams! And if you’re lucky enough to fail because you were brave enough to try, learn from it, build strength from it, and carry that with you to the next level.</p>

And I was blaming external forces for my circumstances. I was blaming everyone and everything, but me.</p>
<p>One day, for the first time ever, I started looking within myself. I started blaming myself for the things I did not want, and that changed everything. When I realized that I was in control of my destiny and my future, I noticed how much time I had wasted believing otherwise. Everything is in your hands. The results you are getting are the results you deserve, once you deserve more you will get more. <p>Excuses are just that… excuses. Before I started my YouTube channel I would always tell myself excuses of how I couldn’t follow my dreams. I would tell myself, “I have no time, I have no resources, it’s too hard, it will just come to me if it’s meant to be, it’s too late”… the list goes on and on. And if you’re anything like I used to be, please let them go because excuses, and I promise you, will get you nowhere. So, you have to decide that you are just going to drop all excuses and <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.fearlessmotivation.com/2016/09/07/no-more-excuses-motivational-speech/">no longer accept any excuse</a></span> that come to mind. And that is true power.</p>
<p>So, when I no longer accepted those excuses, I would keep telling myself over and over, I started acting upon my desires. Excuses didn’t stop me from following my dreams, I stopped them from hindering my desires. Start with what you have, start with where you are, and start today. I promise you that you will find a way if you just keep going. If you work hard, and believe. Keep those excuses for the other 99% that are too meek to believe in themselves.</p>

I don’t care what anyone says or thinks; I truly believe that. The word impossible should be stricken from the English language. Nothing is impossible through hard work, dedication, persistence, faith, and passion. People will bring you down, and people will always try to convince you that it can’t be done. But, you have to believe in yourself and your abilities.</p>
<p>How did the <span style="color: #333333;"><a style="color: #333333;" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_brothers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wright brothers</a></span> invent the aeroplane before it was even fathomed to be possible? It all started with a vision. They held that vision in their mind and brought it to reality through unstoppable faith, gut-wrenching hard work and non-stop persistence. And you’re telling me that your vision, and your dreams can’t be achieved? You think anyone believed that it was possible to have something fly through the air faster than any vehicle or animal on the ground, before it happened? There is true magic when you believe. The only limitation is the one that you hold in your mind. The sky is the limit. No matter how far fetched it is or how hard it seems, just know that it’s possible.</p>
