Have you experienced a sudden change in your life?
Do you feel different in some way but can’t seem to figure out exactly what it is?
Perhaps you lost a loved one, or your job, or you experienced something that feels like it has shifted your perception dramatically. If any of this sounds like you, there is a chance you are experiencing a spiritual awakening.
But what does that mean?
Awakening to your spirituality can mean many different things, and will certainly mean something different to each person who reads this article. However, whether you believe in the teachings of Jesus, or simply resonate with honoring The Universe inside of you, there are some markers that show when you are awakening to the truth of your spirit.
If you are searching for examples of ‘what is a spiritual awakening’ – the following 7 signs will help you understand.
1- You find it easier to let go of things.
You begin to care less about the silly things that used to really bother you. Someone cuts you off in traffic and sure, you get annoyed, but the fire has been taken out of it. You find yourself moving on and letting go faster and easier than you ever have before.
2- You feel a profound sense of peace.
As you get more practiced in letting things go, you are filled with a sense of peace and calm. The anger you once felt in your life seems so silly, and you are much more interested in connecting with people than fighting them.
3- Your interests have changed.
You find yourself moving away from loud and busy places or people. You become interested in spending time in nature, or reading and learning about yourself and how to connect to your inner world.
4- You are treating your body with kindness.
You become more aware of the food and drink that you are putting into your physical body. You understand that your body is a vehicle for your spirit and in order to experience life fully, your body needs nourishment. You find yourself drawn to things like yoga and meditation as a way to calm your mind and manage stress in your body.
5- You have become passionate about seeking the truth.
You are no longer satisfied with superficial friendships or relationships. You yearn for a deep connection with people, based in truth, honesty and vulnerability. You read books on personal development and spirituality, and are excited by learning how to access those parts of yourself. And you delight when others show those parts of themselves to you.
6- You have an increased feeling of love for yourself, and others.
You find that the thoughts you have about yourself and others become kinder and more loving. You don’t feel the need to be right all of the time, in fact, kindness soon becomes your compass in life.
7- Your empathy is at an all time high.
You are able to feel the emotions of others around you quite deeply and you are way more accepting of your own. When you have a human moment of anger or sadness, you don’t repress or try to remove it; rather you invite it in and embrace it, knowing that feeling emotions fully is a part of your journey of growth.
