John Assaraf – Train Your Brain To Make More Money – Transcript

So, many people ask me: Is it possible to train your brain to help you make more money? And the answer is: YES.

Maybe I could share a story with you of how I started to train my own brain to help me make more money.

It started with setting some goals for the kind of lifestyle that I wanted to live. And my mentor Walter Schneider, many years ago… was a very, very successful businessman.

He said: in order to achieve your goals, first you have to have the clarity of what they are.

So let’s say you have a financial goal of making, let’s say $100.000/year. That’s about $8.500/month, or about $2,150 every week that you want to earn. And let’s say you’re not earning that right now.

One of the things you can do to train your brain to help you make that amount of money is, first and foremost to get clear on the exact amount you want to earn, whether it’s per week, per month or per year. That’s step #1.

Step #2:

Create a simple affirmation that goes like this:

“I am so happy and grateful for the fact that I am now earning _______ per month.”

Simple affirmation. And what I want you to do, is I want you to read that affirmation every single morning, 5 to 10 times and every single night before you go to bed 5 to 10 times. And as you read that affirmation I want you to close your eyes and I want you to practice mentally rehearse you receiving that money in the form of a check or cash, or in your bank account and see the money going into your bank account.

I want you to feel what it feels like to consistently have that amount of money per month coming into your bank account. And you can choose whatever amount you want by the way.

As you close your eyes and you visualize that money coming into your account, what I also want you to visualize is the impact that that amount of money will have on your life, your family’s life, your friends’ life, the community that you live in and the charities that you want to support.

Get totally into a mental movie, add the emotions, as if you were a Hollywood actor/actress pretending that that was really happening.

So you’d read your affirmation: I’m so happy and grateful for the fact that I’m now earning ________ per month… and as you do that and you repeat that, mentally rehearse, visualize what that looks like.

And what that does is that primes your brain to see and feel as if it is real right now. That activates the different parts of your brain, specifically the left pre-frontal cortex which is the genius, CEO, Einstein part of your brain that can actually help you figure out how to achieve that goal and dream.

So if you do that in the morning and the night before bed… morning upon waking up, nighttime before bed, you start to prime your brain with an affirmation, with a mental rehearsal, and you will cognitively prime your brain.

And if you want a bonus step, what I want you to do is take a vision board, either on your computer or a physical board and cut out some pictures of what lifestyle earning ______ per month will allow you to live.

What kind of car would you drive?
What kind of places would you go vacationing?
What kind of home would you live in?
What kind of charities would you support?

Get pictures of what the outcome of earning _____ per month is, or _______ per year, and start to see yourself in that scenario and act as if it is real right now.

And then, everyday ask yourself a question:
What can I do today to make that amount of income a reality?

And take one or two action steps towards making that a reality.

So the physical actions in addition to the mental rehearsal, with affirmations and mental rehearsals, visualisations is one of the best ways to start priming your brain to achieve the financial goals you have.

John Assaraf – How To Achieve Any Goal

So, many years ago when I was 19 years old I had a meeting with a man that I’ve never met before that was introduced to me by my brother… and this man was very successful financially, with his family, as a philanthropist, as a businessman…

And he asked me one question that defined the trajectory of my life. The question he asked me was: was I interested in achieving my life’s goals and dreams or was I committed to achieving them.

And he said if I was interested I would do what’s convenient, but if I was committed I would do whatever it takes.

And Mr. Alan Brown said to me: John if you’re interested, you’ll do whats convenient. You’ll believe your stories and excuses and you’ll continue to be a victim of your current reality and circumstances. You’ll come up with all the reasons why you can’t achieve those goals and that’s what you will be focusing on for the rest of your life.

He said the big difference is if you’re committed you’ll start today to let go of your stories, your excuses, your reasons why you’re achieving your certain results right now and why you can’t achieve any of those goals and dreams you wrote down this piece of paper. He said if you’re committed you’ll upgrade your knowledge. If you’re committed you’ll upgrade your skills. if you’re committed you’ll come in every single day and figure out how you can achieve those goals and why you must versus why you can’t and why you won’t.

And after he explained the difference between interest and commitment to me I put my hand and I shook his hand and said: Mr. Brown, I’m committed! Now, I was scared shitless to say that I’m committed because I had to let go of all my reasons why I couldn’t achieve my goals and dreams.

And the very act of writing my goals and then saying to him… and then to myself… Make a commitment to myself to be committed, I started to achieve the financial and life goals and dreams that I wrote down on that piece of paper. And not only did I achieve every one of those, I way, way, way, exceeded every single goal.

That’s when my whole life changed. One commitment. One moment in my life. I said that I was committed to my financial and health and relationship and career and business and charitable goals and the travel goals and the health goals I had… I was committed to all of my goals. He said “great”. Well the first action steps towards commitment is to develop a plan for how you actually achieve those goals.

So here’s my question for you: Are you interested in achieving your financial, health, relationship, career, business goals and your travel goals or are you committed?

Now, if you’re committed here’s what I would like you to do: Take a sheet of paper and write down one goal for every area of your life health, love, relationships, career, business, charitable write down 1 goal and when you want to achieve by and then, what I want you to do is write down 3 action steps that you can take towards achieving those goals.

Write down what do you need to LEARN, what do you need to BELIEVE and what do you need to DO.

Take those things, put those right on your calendar with a time by which you are going to complete those things and if you can do that for each one of your goals, if you can focus on the goal you want to achieve, three action items towards achieving those goals and a specific timeline by when you’re going to achieve it by, you are going to be the type of person that achieves your goals and dreams versus the person who hopes and prays and wishes that those goals and dreams become a reality.

The person who achieves goals and dreams takes consistent, daily, weekly, monthly actions towards those goals and dreams. And they don’t allow their stories or their excuses or their reasons or circumstances to hold them back. They are committed to achieving their goal no matter what.

That’s the attitude. That’s the mindset that you have to have. And you have to have absolute resolve that you will do whatever it takes.

So… are you interested? Or are you committed?

2. Motivational Posters

What entrepreneur doesn’t love a great Motivational Quote? Keep them inspired with these motivational posters and canvas prints:

3. A Donation To Charity, On Their Behalf

Most entrepreneurs are givers. Their mission is to serve others and change lives. What better way to give a gift, than to give to two people at the same time, to help someone less fortunate in the process. These days you will find most charities provide the option of gifting, search for the one that means the most to you or your gift-recipient, and see if you can lighten up two lives with one gift.

4. Self-Development Programs

Every highly successful person is so, because they are lifetime learners. If the person you are buying for is into personal growth, there’s not many better gifts you can give than a self-development program that would change their life forever. Our go to program is Get The Edge by Tony Robbins, you can get the downloadable (UPDATED) version here. We also highly recommend anything from MindValley, especially The Spiritual Laws Of Money by T.Harv Eker.

5. Motivational CD’s and Motivational Speeches (Album Download)

I’ve never met a great entrepreneur that wasn’t self-motivated, but I’ve also never met an entrepreneur that didn’t want more, didn’t want GROWTH.

Motivational Speeches can be perfect for the hard to buy for entrepreneur to give them that little extra. You can purchase CD’s of motivational speeches, or you can also “Gift” album downloads on all popular music platforms, like iTunes, Google and Amazon. Motivation can come in many forms:

Date with Destiny is perhaps Tony Robbins most well known event, after the recent release of the documentary I am Not Your Guru.
Date With Destiny is a 6 day intensive, self development seminar with the sole intention of changing your life for the better – in just about every area. Tickets range from $5000-$12,000USD so it isn’t an easy decision for many to make. With this in mind, I thought it might be a great idea to give the world an honest Date with Destiny review.
Below you will find honest opinions from 3 amazing human beings who attended, with myself the most recent Date With Destiny.

Date with Destiny is attended by a variety of people, from CEO’s and multi-millionaires, to students and those with suicidal thoughts. Everyone looking for a major breakthrough in their life.
You can make your mind up, based on these reviews, if Date with Destiny is worth it for YOU.

It is my opinion any event could be highly valuable, to anyone, depending on how you CHOOSE to view that event (something you will learn at Date With Destiny). If you have not invested in any of Tony’s books or audio programs before, I do suggest you start with those, as the event is really just a live, extended version of these programs. I highly recommend: Unlimited Power – Book, and Personal Power Audio Program.

Here are some thoughts of those who have invested in the event:

How would you summarise Date with Destiny in 1 sentence?

Anthony Leong: An expensive, but worth it, life-changing experience, that was fun, exhausting and exhilarating.

Christie Jenkins: A personal development rock concert that can change your life forever.

Christina Wallace: Date with Destiny is what you do when you make a true decision to make real changes in your life, have massive breakthroughs, and step into your true authentic self!

What was your purpose for attending Date with Destiny?

Anthony Leong: To get my mojo back with regard to starting another business, after achieving all my previous goals overseas .Was there a main reason/breakthrough you wanted from the event?

Christie Jenkins: I’ve always been interested in sports psychology and the mental side of high performance so I went looking to learn more about that. But I left with much more than that.

Christina Wallace: My purpose for attending Date with Destiny was to gain clarity on my values and purpose in life. The most important breakthrough for me was to delete past limiting beliefs and establish clear values for my future; to unleash my personal power to create a compelling and fulfilling future.

What is was your greatest personal breakthrough moment or principle gained from Date with Destiny?

Anthony Leong: The conviction, which has lead to action, that putting my wife first is the most important thing I can do for my happiness.

Christie Jenkins: Tony makes a distinction between the ‘science of achievement’ and the ‘art of fulfilment’. Until DWD I’d never really understood how you could develop a sense of fulfilment without losing some of your edge on the achievement side of the equation. The exercises around values and primary question helped me reconcile this tension in my mind.

Christina Wallace: My greatest personal breakthrough happened on Transformation day, when I was able to release the little girl inside who had protected me from danger, abuse, and being left alone. I was able to express my gratitude, and let her go because she no longer served me. I was able to recognize that I am safe, loved, and protected by source, the universe, God. I am able to love all of me, forgive all my judgements, and let go of the parts that no longer serve me.

Is there anything at all you didn’t like about Date With Destiny?

Anthony Leong: The meditation did not seem different from other meditations. It was built up a lot, but for me, didn’t deliver.

Christie Jenkins: As an athlete it was difficult for me to sit inside for so long – they certainly aren’t generous with breaks during the sometimes 15 hour days! That was a physical challenge for me. I also skipped out on Mike and his sales pitch as it felt very negative and not aligned with the energy of the rest of the event.

Christina Wallace: I would have enjoyed more team time, to get to know people more individually on our team, and have a team challenge. I would also like more information for Relationship day, the interventions were very long and some content on feminine and masculine energies was omitted.

Nearly 2 months on, have you been able to maintain the momentum gained from the DWD event?

Anthony Leong: Yes. Still repeating my primary question and mission statement daily multiple times. Still repeating my power virtues and noticing my away value of humiliation not affecting me as much as it used to. Have more faith in the future and not feel I need to control everything for certainty or constantly prove myself for significance which is a huge weight off my shoulders. I remember that I alone am responsible for the state that I am in.

Christie Jenkins: The week after the event I crashed hard catching up on sleep deprivation! I actually left DWD not with a need for more momentum, but a need to enjoy the moment more. I think it’s probably unsustainable to live your whole life at such a peak energy state. What I’ve tried to do is recalibrate my natural energy state to be slightly higher, and to know that DWD is the high-bar for a maximum energy state which I can go into on occasion.

Christina Wallace: YES! Because I had already hired a life coach, have been part of an amazing Master Mind from UPS San Jose, and have an accountability partner, I have been able to make amazing shifts and progress. I will also redo my poster to re-evaluate my values and goals with SMART goals, and measurable actions using RPM planning.

What, if any great results have you achieved which you would attribute to DWD and the principles gained there?

Anthony Leong: The above. Also, moving toward love and contribution as my main human needs, I enjoy more the time with my wife and kids more, despite the challenges of raising two young kids, and I have increased my giving/lending to KIVA.

Christie Jenkins: I can’t point to one significant life change that has occurred after my time at DWD, more the accumulation of small changes. I was already doing what I wanted to do with my life before the event so I’ve made slight adjustments to the way I think about things and the energy I bring to things.

Christina Wallace: Learning my old values and top needs was huge. Now that I have assessed and created new towards and away values, I am so much happier and more fulfilled. My new top 3 towards goals are: 1) Health and vitality, 2) Love & connection, 3) Financial Freedom, which serve me in focusing my actions and allow me to feel successful daily! I also use RPM planning more effectively since DWD.

Would you recommend date with destiny to anyone? Why/Why not?

Anthony Leong: I would, if you plan to continue to use the tools in your life after, not just at the event. In any case the interventions are a pleasure and privilege to witness live and the decisions and distinctions you make can be life changing.

Christie Jenkins: Most of the people in the room either have some interest in personal development, or are completely stuck and frustrated with a major area of their life. Having said that, I believe there is something in it for everyone. You get the performance of your body checked at the doctor every year, so why wouldn’t you also do the same for your thoughts and emotions.

Christina Wallace: YES! I have recommended DWD to many people already, however, I also recommend hiring a success coach first. My coach was able to help me clear a lot and set clear intentions before attending DWD, so I maximized my experience and outcomes.

In your opinion, what was the greatest thing about DWD?

Anthony Leong: The interventions (Intervention meaning Strategic Intervention, is where Tony dives deep into a 1 on 1 transformation with an individual, this is a big part of the event)

Christie Jenkins: I’m in awe of Tony’s ability as a speaker. He would hold the room completely captivated for hours and hours on end. People would be busting for the bathroom and not want to leave, and when they did finally succumb to their bladders they would sprint to the bathroom!

Christina Wallace: The greatest thing about DWD was the alignment of towards and away values, and learning about relationships regarding feminine and masculine energies. I also met the most amazing people, and had such support from my accountability partner!

What are your thoughts about the energy in the room every day?

Anthony Leong: Powerful energy of love in the room

Christie Jenkins: It’s off the charts. Literally like being at a concert except no one judges you for your stupid dance moves at DWD.

Christina Wallace: The energy in the room was AMAZING!! I went to the Gold Coast, and fell in love with the Aussies! Tony, Scotty, and all the trainers & mentors were so awesome! The crew brought the energy up to a whole new level!!

During the event, you will likely hug more humans than you have in your life, and dance longer than you have in your life too. Tony does this to get you in a positive, powerful state.

Anthony Leong: It grows on you, then you get right into it. I continue the dancing at home at times, to the amusement of my kids. Hugs are always great – easy way to feel good.

Christina Wallace: Dancing was the BEST!

You will learn about the 6 human needs, and how your needs control your decisions.

What were your Top 2 human needs and how were they restricting you from the life you wanted?

Anthony Leong: Certainty and significance helped me be successful, but would not allow me to be happy as you can’t control the future, no matter how much you influence it, and there will always be a bigger fish for you to compare yourself to.

Christie Jenkins: Previously my top two needs were significance and growth. I was happy with growth and it remains one of my top two. While I still love achieving things, I can do it with a motivation that goes beyond simply chasing significance. Removing significance from my top two will also make it a lot easier to experience a meaningful relationships and deeper friendships.

Christina Wallace: My top 2 human needs used to be certainty and significance, they restricted me from the life I wanted because I was too concerned with how people would see me or what others thought. I was also too scared to take a real risk and go for it!

What are your top 2 human needs now, and how is your life better from this shift?

Anthony Leong: Love and growth. Love brings so much joy in my life so I now emphasise hugging and savouring my wife and kids (particularly when they are in a good mood ). I am putting my wife first, at least a lot more than I used to and it has improved our relationship. Another thing that makes me happy is growth, which, regardless of whether others see it, feels good to me, as the small wins feel great and add up to something pretty awesome in any area of life.

Christie Jenkins: Growth is still there, and I chose love as my second one. It’s a huge shift for me and there are still plenty of times where I see significance thinking creeping back into my life. It’s led me to reframe how I think about achievement from a predominantly self-focused point of view, to considering how what I achieve might have a broader impact. For example, winning a sporting tournament gives you the profile to mentor and inspire young athletes and the power to influence the structure of the sport for the better.

Christina Wallace: My top needs now are love & connection, and Contribution! Growth is at the top as well, I am consistently growing with daily personal development, my mastermind tribe, reading, and learning daily.

1 full day at Date with Destiny is dedicated to Relationships:

What was your biggest takeaway from Relationship day?

Anthony Leong: To man up and realise that my wife becomes more masculine and bossy when she’s stressed or scared. To make sure that there is polarity of masculine and feminine in the relationship, and always know that we have the best of intentions. Putting her first and letting her know that has created more intimacy in the relationship.

Christie Jenkins: Relationship day was one ‘aha’ after another of ‘well now I know why I’m single’! The breakthrough for me was a transformation in my thinking around showing vulnerability and femininity. Prior to DWD I’d considered displaying these as a sign of weakness. I realized that it takes far more courage and strength to show your vulnerability than it does to maintain an outward appearance of strength.

Christina Wallace: My biggest takeaway was about the masks, that a real feminine core can be masked by a masculine and then masked by what she thinks is being feminine. That was so eye-opening!

Do you think the principles learned that day will enhance your relationship? (Or get you into a relationship if you weren’t in one) ((or END your relationship if it was an unhealthy one)

Anthony Leong: Yes, they have.

Christie Jenkins: I’ll have to put that to the test when I next find myself in a relationship. Gentlemen… feel free to ask me out and we can share our relationship visions

Christina Wallace: YES!! I learned so much that has already enhanced the relationship I have with myself, and will make my next relationship so much more amazing!

You will learn about living in a beautiful state, and how to get in a powerful state every day.

How has learning about the power of your STATE changed your life & what you do to get in state every day.

Anthony Leong: I have realised that state is so much of the solution to most problems. We are all better people in the right state, and can be awful in the wrong state. I do gratitude exercises, listen to inspiring music, jump up and down or watch a short documentary called ‘Slomo’ on youtube that inspires me.

Christie Jenkins: I’ve used my incantations (usually while driving so if you see someone yelling at the top of their lungs it’s not road range, it’s me getting into a beautiful state). This has been an addition to the visualization that I do regularly to prepare myself to compete in my sport.

Christina Wallace: A grateful, centered, and joyous state is key to daily outcomes and enjoying the most of life. Living in the zone of fulfillment is dependent upon living in a beautiful empowering state. I do priming, meditation, exercise, and saying my definite major purpose statement every morning. I also live in a constant beautiful state of joyous expectancy. I shake my ASS as much as possible!!

The importance of “living in a beautiful state” – What does it mean to you?

Anthony Leong: Before I used to rely on strategy and use my intellect which are great for business, but for happiness, living in a beautiful state and self managing it is key.

Christie Jenkins: A beautiful state means holding appreciation for your life and the present moment in your mind. To be in that state, be in the now (not thinking about the past or future) and find gratitude for something around you or within you.

Masculine and Feminine energies – your takeaway from these principles.

Anthony Leong: Polarity of the energies in a marriage is vital, otherwise we would just be friends/room mates.

Christie Jenkins: Masculine is not strong and feminine is not weak – each of these energies requires courage and commitment to live in.

Christina Wallace: My biggest takeaway is that a true masculine needs freedom and appreciation. And I need to nurture my feminine energy by being vulnerable, playful, and allowing my man to be my hero!

You will learn how to master MEANING, knowing that YOU control your reactions to every situation in your life.

How has the old story and your new story have changed your life?

Christie Jenkins: I’ve always believed strongly in taking personal accountability for you achievements and for your enjoyment of your life. You learn that pretty quickly through sport where winning and losing and the emotions that go with it are entirely your responsibility. So my story hasn’t really changed, I’ve just added a touch more gratitude for all the opportunities I’ve had.

Your old and new values: How have they changed and how has that improved your life?

Anthony Leong: They have made me feel happier and less fearful of rejection or humiliation.

Christie Jenkins: My old values were winning, freedom, making someone proud of me, growth and recognition. And my life definitely reflected that – I’m an athlete so winning is part of my job description. I also developed a lifestyle that saw me travel 8 months of the year overseas – plenty of freedom. My new values are growth, love, courage (because love takes courage!), audacity / boldness, impact and leadership. The change is to bring more a focus on fulfilment and relationships into my life, and to think about achievement from the perspective of making and impact and being a leader. Ask me again in a year and we will see some big changes I’m sure.

Your old and new primary question: How have they changed and how has that improved your life?

Anthony Leong: Allows me to focus on love and growth rather than frantically trying to get shit done, which I get done anyway.

Christie Jenkins: My old question was ‘how can I win at this?’ My friends and family will tell you that I am extremely competitive and no wonder when I go around asking myself this question. My new question makes my brain appreciate the present moment and the people around me: ‘how can I celebrate and share even more of who I am, and who others are, in this moment?’

One sentence to describe yourself before the event and yourself after the event. “From…. to…”

Anthony Leong: From having an itch inside I couldn’t scratch to feeling the love

Christie Jenkins: From orange to yellow… you have to go and experience the event to understand my answer!

Mind Power – Why is Failure Easier than Success?

If you’re reading this article because the headline grabbed you, it worked, but it might also reveal something about you. Is it because the concept of mind power interests you or are you looking for reasons why you’re failing at sometthing?

Only you can answer that question, but it’s one worth answering. If you are hoping to find out why failure is easier than success, perhaps you view yourself in the wrong way. If the headline was the other way around, would you have been as intrigued to read on?

The point is, most of us allow the negative to prevail, we let it dominate, it keeps the positive out of reach and we resign ourselves to not being good enough. Well you know what? That’s not good enough, because it doesn’t have to be.

Mind Power is Real

We all have a powerhouse within us that can be used to take us where we want to go, but most of us don’t tap into it. At best, we only scratch the surface with it and never realise our true potential. Our own mind power is incredibly strong – if we want it to be.

You’ve no doubt heard of the Law of Attraction and how it can transform your life beyond your wildest dreams. Focus on what you want, believe you can have it, meditate on it, visualise it, repeat affirmations, etc, and it’ll arrive. Well sorry to tell you, mostly it won’t.

When it doesn’t seem to work for us we become sceptical or worse, feel bad about failing – again. That old vicious circle that keeps reinforcing itself, becoming our norm. Is it possible you’re taking the easy way out? When you fail at something, it can be convenient because there’s no need to make any changes. You can stay in your comfort zone of failing and say to the world, “See, I’m no good at this stuff so I’ll just keep on doing what I do”.

What you’re really doing, is reaffirming a belief you have about yourself, which probably wasn’t planted by you, but you’re using the power of your mind to confirm that the belief is correct. Don’t worry, you’re not trapped, but you will have to change how you use the power of the mind and thoughts, in order to change.

Power of Your Subconscious Mind

If you really want to make the magic happen, you first have to understand, there is no magic to this, the only magic wand is you. Your subconscious mind has been programmed from an early age with thoughts and beliefs from other people such as parents or teachers, which now make up your persona. It guides you, protects you and often, it restricts you.

It isn’t easy to change your beliefs which have been ingrained into your subconscious. The odd thing is, although it controls you, it endeavours to carry out any instructions you give to it. That may sound contradictory, but it is the nerve centre of your very being and will do its best to deliver what your conscious mind tells it. That’s why you need to be careful and keep a check on what your conscious mind is thinking in the here and now.

When your conscious mind just repeats an inner belief from the subconscious, it’ll get strengthened and that can be a bad thing, but so easy to let happen. For example, if you say that you’ve always been useless at remembering people’s names, guess what, you’ll never remember names. Your conscious is reaffirming back to the subconscious. Now, perhaps you can see how this mind power technique might be used to change deep rooted beliefs into what you want them to be.

There’s Nothing More Powerful Than A Human Being With Purpose:

Don’t Start with Subconscious Mind Exercises

The route to making changes doesn’t begin with going after what you want, because it’s unlikely to work. Subconscious mind exercises will be important, but only after you know exactly what you want and why you want it. This is often known as finding your “why?” – knowing why you want something.

It’s actually more than knowing why, it’s being aware of why you must or why you have to do something. There has to be a passion, an absolute unwavering desire for this, almost as if your very existence depends on it. That’s how important it must be to you.

Once you know that, you can start working on becoming the person you have to be, in order to attract what you want. There’s nothing spooky about this, if you don’t have much money and that’s your way of life, before you can attract wealth, you must change your beliefs about abundance.

Use subconscious mind exercises such as, visualisation, affirmations etc, to work on your beliefs. Once they are aligned with your desires, you’ll be able to start working on getting what you want. When your mindset has changed, you’ll begin to take the right kind of actions which lead to your goals.

It’s Down to You

You’ve heard the expression, “change yourself and you change your world” and it’s so true. Still using money as an example, if you work on believing it’s something you can have rather than something you never have, you’ll come to look at it differently. For example, rather than spending everything you earn each month, you might start to put a little bit aside to save for something.

It’s these little positive actions that will start the ball rolling towards changing your inner beliefs, so you become the person who can naturally attract what you want. You see, the Law of Attraction isn’t magic, it comes from within you. You, your beliefs and the actions you take, will put you where you need to be, to bring your desires into reality. Yes, failure is easy, but success can be too. Now that is mind power!

Pressure Makes Humans Respond Better to the Challenges of Life

Several years ago I watched Bishop T. D. Jakes preach a message titled: “Turning Pressure into Power”, and it left a lasting impression on my spirit. I quickly got an impression that it’s actually possible to gain promotion from powerlessness to powerfulness: from “grass to grace”; and from a “furnace to a palace”.

The growth of a “low-flying eaglet” to a “high-flying eagle”, is by pressure; and by the pressure of heat – charcoal becomes diamond! Gold is processed by fire! Through the pressure created by World War Two, nations were given birth to in a new era after the war. A woman gives birth to children by the pressure of pushing. In summary, the truth about pressure is that it creates an internal change in people, which tends to makes them respond better to the challenges of life.

In the history of mankind, it has been noted that pressure brought out the best human resources, talents, intelligence, wisdom and potentials in so many men and women. When many people are squeezed, they responded better by displaying their full capabilities, which were always residing within them, and only waiting to be utilized.

What Separates Successful People From Average People?

What distinguishes extraordinarily successful people from those with average, or ordinary success – is their ability to perform under challenging conditions of sustained pressure. Take for example – athletes: their skills wouldn’t have much significance if they can’t use it to win trophies during the challenges that are associated with top competitions: which are often characterized by pressure. It can be observed in everyday life that two or more people, with the same training and skills, respond in different ways when confronted with similar concentrations and conditions of pressure.

There are times you must have noticed and wondered why some people flourish in the midst of pressure, while others respond by falling apart. Under pressure, some individuals react positively in a way that builds up their performance: on the other hand, there are other individuals who react in a way that drops their performance. In the right way, pressure can also make you identify the bad aspects of your life, and make appropriate adjustments for your good and the general good of those around you.

Pressure Increases Your Faith

For those who look at life from a more spiritual perspective, you might have noticed that pressure brings out a lot of spiritual attributes hidden within us like – patience, endurance, resilience, power and inner strength. That process would be similar to how pressure is used in converting weak charcoal into strong diamond: it also causes people to grow in faith and belief.

When you are a situation where no other option is available, than for you to wait, believe and expect a miraculous breakthrough from a higher power (God, the universe or whatever you believe in) – then your faith in God’s existence; your faith in God’s power, might and abilities – will only grow stronger.

When challenges and disbelief threaten you, then quickly and mandatorily respond by using faith as an effective tool. In order to pass from a position of powerlessness to heightened power, first of all – remain calm under that fire. Once you do not bend nor bow to it, then it won’t consume you. Take your gaze away from the predominant negativity you see around you, and concentrate on that higher power you believe in; and remember that power is always in a close proximity to those people who believe, even though they may be under a lot of pressure. In order to receive spiritual strength, which always has the capability of tackling physical challenges, make it a habit of maintaining positivity while looking to that higher power at all times.

David Goggins Quotes and Life Lessons to Overcome Anything in Life

Soldiers are the toughest breed on the planet. But this man is the toughest among them. He has fought for his country for 21 years, has completed over 50 endurance races, and is widely renowned as the world’s toughest athlete.

One of his remarkable achievements is completing the Mont Blanc 100-mile race. In this race, Goggins had to complete 100 miles within 24 hours and after 70 miles his body had shut down.

He had stress fractures in his legs, shin splints, his kidneys had shut down, he was pooping his pants because the bathroom was too far away, and peeing blood because his organs were failing. As if this wasn’t enough, he also had a hole in his heart while he finished the 100 miles.

From an average Joe’s perspective, he was almost on the brink of death. But he didn’t stop. And that’s why he’s the toughest man in the world.

Here are some David Goggins quotes and key life lessons to make you unbeatable.

1. To Grow in Life, Be Willing to Suffer

As human beings, we run away from pain and suffering. This mechanism is ingrained in our brains. But if we become conscious of this pattern and deliberately do the things that we fear, we will embark on a path of lasting greatness.

“It’s so easy to be great nowadays, because everyone else is weak. If you have ANY mental toughness, if you have any fraction of self-discipline; The ability to not want to do it, but still do it; If you can get through to doing things that you hate to do: on the other side is GREATNESS ” – David Goggins Quotes

Goggins says that suffering is the only way you can grow. When you’re trying to run a marathon, you have to build calluses on your feet. And when you’re trying to get ahead in life, you have to build calluses in your brain.

2. Build A Thick Skin

According to David Goggins, people of our generation quit as soon as they’re talked to. If someone tells them that they can’t do it, they just give up. But to be mentally tough, you have to accept adversity.

Goggins says that,

“It’s okay, you might be called a nigger one day. It’s okay…Let them call you that. What are you going to do now? They don’t own your life. How you’re going to control that now?…Thicken your skin.” – David Goggins Quotes

3. Don’t Live in An External World, Go Inside Yourself

Goggins advises that to truly become great and unstoppable, you need to go inside yourself into introspection and find who you are.

According to him,

“We live in an external world. Everything, you have to see it, touch it. If you can for the rest of your life, live inside yourself – to find greatness, you have to go inside”. – David Goggins Quotes

Go sit alone in a room. Ponder over the course of your life, how it has shaped you, what desires you developed along your journey, notice any important transitions and how they changed you. You need to read your own book.

4. Admit Your Weaknesses

We have a tendency to run away from the truth. When things are not working, it is easy to blame this or that.

In order to emerge stronger on the other side, we need to accept our faults.

Goggins said,

“For me to fix this, I gotta read my book. Okay, I’m afraid of my shadow. How can I overcome that? – Go in the military. Get your ass kicked. Do things you hate to do. Be uncomfortable every f***ing day of your life.” – David Goggins Quotes

He told himself he was dumb and needed to educate himself, as painful as it may sound. We need to confront our darker truths in order to harness the power they have over us.

5. Use A Cookie Jar to Turn Fear on Itself

When life gets tough, you need to count on your strengths. According to him, in times of suffering, we forget who we really are.

In the Mont Blanc race, Goggins body had shut down after running for 70 miles and he still had to run 30 miles. He was in a horrible state – feet were broken, ankles were taped, shin splints, stress fractures, pooping his pants, peeing blood. But by remembering his strengths, he kept going.

He told himself,

“You went three hell weeks and finished two. One of the hells weeks, a guy died, it was so bad. Oh, you ARE a motherf***king badass” – David Goggins Quotes

Whenever you feel down, you need to go down in the cookie jar and remember who you really are. You are not the weak person your mind may be trying to tell you, you are the person that has survived tough times in the past. You are your achievements.

By going into the cookie jar, you can turn fear on itself and harness it for strength.

6. Self-Talk and Visualization Are The Keys to Fighting Negativity

We have seen how Goggins used positive self-talk for keep going through the hard times. His body had shut down, a doctor would qualify him as unfit for running and probably send him directly to a hospital. But he used empowering words to turn pain into power.

I said, “Who on this f***ing earth would be going right now? YOU ARE!” I believed it enough to where my body said, “he’s not gonna stop”. – David Goggins Quotes

The second most powerful tool we have is our imagination. Visualize yourself succeeding, living the life you want, celebrating the peak of your success with your friends and family. Not only long-term, you can visualize for daily challenges as well. You can do it with your workout, your job, your love life – anything.

7. If You Choose to Do Something, Attack It

If you ever set out to do something, invest hundred percent of your energy in it. Don’t take a half-assed approach. According to Goggins, you’re going to do it anyway, so you might as well go hard. Because in the end, it’s all about how you’ll be remembered.

“I hated jumping out of airplanes, I hated shooting guns, I hated the job as a Navy SEAL – but I did it because I wanted to change myself. Everything you do, I’m not really comfortable doing, but if you choose to go that route, to be a navy seal, you might as well go be the hardest motherf***er in the world.” – David Goggins Quotes

8. Use The Accountability Mirror

Goggins used the accountability mirror to make sure he was going in the right direction. If on some particular day, something didn’t feel right, Goggins would write it on a sticky note and fix that thing.

We can use accountability in our daily life to become the person we want to be. If something doesn’t feel good, write it down and fix it as soon as possible.

Goggins would ask himself, “How did I attack today? How did I attack yesterday?”

As Goggins says,

“I tried to do so many things to fit in. But when you look in the mirror, that’s the one person you can’t lie to.” – David Goggins Quotes

9. Create A Vision in Your Mind

Goggins says that external things cannot transform your life, not even Goggins himself. They can give you a spark, but unless you create a vision, see the person you want to be in your mind, your life will remain the same.

You need to see the future ahead of yourself, how you want to live. Keep in touch with that vision every single day. Again this is about going inside yourself.

10. Non-Cognitive Skills Make You Great

Cognitive skills require conscious intellectual effort and are based on reasoning, remembering, and thinking. For example, solving a puzzle or writing an essay require cognitive skills.

Non-cognitive or soft skills include integrity, mental toughness, work ethic, curiosity, vision, decisiveness, and interpersonal interaction. Non-cognitive skills are about a person’s attitude and personality.

Goggins says you must learn to work hard, show courage, and have self-discipline. Overcoming adversity requires all the non-cognitive skills.

Conclusion

In the end, being fearless, being not afraid to face your fears will make you happy. As Goggins says,

“Having lived the life I’ve lived, and seeing the other side, not being afraid to attack what was in front of me has made me happy.”
