We all fail at something in our lives, and if we are positive about it, we let it become a learning experience. Hitting rock bottom is different – when you encounter complete and utter failure in all areas of your life, it is very hard to see anything positive about it at all. This condition is often accompanied by severe depression, which will really challenge you.

However, being at your lowest possible level can be a positive experience, in a way. It is an excellent opportunity to reinvent your life from scratch. When things cannot get any worse, it means that whatever you decide to do is going to be an improvement, the only way is UP! even if ever so slightly.

But, what exactly should you do to pick yourself up and begin taking control of your life again?

Rising from the Depths: What to Do When You Hit Rock Bottom

1. Start small and focus on one thing at a time

So, you are down at the deep end and have no idea how to get out or where to start. Some life coaches would suggest that you try to turn things around immediately, deciding to put every effort into changing your life this very minute and show the world a miraculous comeback. Don’t fall into this trap – in fact, it is about the worst thing you can do in this situation.

While it is possible to muster enough energy and determination to maintain this tempo for a little while, very few people are capable of changing their life in one fell swoop. By the way, this is the reason why most people fail at their New Year resolutions. Trying to change everything may sound like an alluring and motivating goal, but you will most likely run out of steam after a few days, your own inability to adhere to your new regimen will cause you to abandon it in its entirety, and this will plunge you deeper into depression.

Instead, focus on making small steps towards a single goal. When you hit rock bottom, improvement in any area of your life is welcome, and small successes will help you get used to achieving something, conditioning you for further progress.

2. Set achievable goals

Another tactic often recommended is visualizing your ideal life after you’ve achieved total success. Allegedly visualizing your success motivates you to move forward and apply effort towards achieving it. While it may work in some cases, it certainly isn’t so when you hit rock bottom. Imagining driving a Lamborghini, wearing a Rolex Cellini timepiece and owning a private island will be too jarring if your life is too far removed from this image. It won’t motivate you to try harder – on the contrary, subconsciously it will be a constant reminder that any effort on your part is doomed.

3. Reach out to other people

People going through a rough patch in their lives tend to either close in on themselves and avoid other people or drag them down with themselves, causing other people to avoid them. Both approaches are equally harmful. If you experience severe problems in your life, some help from outside may be exactly what you need. Sometimes it is not even direct help but inspiration and motivation you get from getting in touch with people who take an active part in life. Just make sure that your motivation for reaching out is to accept help and support and not to make others as miserable as you are now.

4. Find your motivation

It is often said that if you cannot achieve something, it means that you don’t have a strong enough “Why” – a reason for doing it, or “Ikigai,” as the Japanese call it (which is literally translated as “The reason to get up in the morning”).

What is your ultimate reason for being?

Why should you force yourself to try harder? Any effort you apply towards getting on your feet is likely to lose its momentum sooner or later if you don’t decide it for yourself.

Nobody wants to hit rock bottom. However, if you perceive it as an opportunity to hit reset and start things anew, it can be the beginning of a new, much more powerful period of your life.

The sunk cost fallacy is the tendency of people to continue an investment or an endeavor, if a resource such as time or money has been invested, even if giving up the initial investment or effort is a more strategically viable option.

The sunk cost fallacy is common in our lives from something as simple as a person letting unworn clothes clutter their closet just because they’re expensive, to people holding on to stock even after it has lost value.

According to psychologist Daniel Kahneman, the sunk cost fallacy is commonplace because “organisms that placed more urgency on avoiding losses over maximizing opportunities were more likely to pass on their genes.” Therefore the possibility of losses is a stronger motivator than the likelihood of gains.

Some everyday fallacies are:

Employment and Business

In 1956, the Concorde project began intended to design a supersonic airliner. The last Concorde flight was in 2003 despite the project having run into prohibitive cost overruns as far back as 1976. The endeavor would later be known as the Anglo/French misadventure and would be renowned for the valuable business lesson it offers. In the same way, most individuals base the decision to keep the business running based on past investments even when the financial growth is uncertain.

In employment, most people stick to dead-end jobs as they don’t want to jettison the sunk costs in terms of raises, promotions, and offers.

Education

College students keep putting themselves into debt even when they are not making much headway in their degree. The argument is that they have to continue attending the “useless” classes as they have already paid and they don’t want their previous efforts going down the drain. This is despite the overwhelming evidence and massive student loan debt. Education is a powerful tool, but it must be used correctly.

Standing by Bad Decisions

A great example of standing by bad decisions as a sunk cost fallacy is cluttering your house with items you don’t need only because you spent money on them. Or you stick to complete a dreadful movie only because you spent money on tickets, or finishing an unpalatable meal. Sure, your money is gone but don’t allow it to bind you as you will only lose more.

Religious Sunk Cost Fallacy

As people grow older, most let go of their supernatural beliefs, but some cannot accept the loss of their religious investment. The clergy who have invested in theology are often predisposed to this but continue practicing despite inconsistent beliefs and overwhelming evidence against their ingrained teachings.

Relationships

People sticking it out in toxic relationships and broken marriages are the best example of sunk cost mindset. Partners invest a lot of time, money, and emotions, and can’t see themselves with someone else. They also don’t want to leave despite being in a position to and thus further entrenching their position.

How to Overcome the Sunk Cost Fallacy

1. In business, always ask yourself if you have a fighting chance, or it’s just a chance to fight. If it is the former, then go on, but if it is the latter, it might be time to pull the plug. Also, don’t make decisions based on previous investment but the financial viability of the business going forward.

2. Recognize that time, money, or any resource cannot be recovered, and it does not obligate you to continue investing in the future.

3. Realize sometimes the best decision is to quit. Though most perceive this as admitting failure, it is a sensible response when the goal is no longer viable. Keep working, but shift your focus.

4. In the words of Kenny Rogers, learn when to hold them and when to fold them. It takes more strength to admit you were wrong, there is no shame in making the best decision for yourself.

5. Finally, get the facts. There are instances where you want to stick it out in business or a career or degree but analyze the facts. Then make a decision based on the realities and not hearsay.

Why do we give up on our dreams? The odds are that you have given up on a goal before. And if you’re reading this, you are on the hunt for a way to counter-attack and get back to your best.

We tend to judge success by the day.. Not seeing the bigger picture. A perfect example of not seeing the forest for the trees. We also tie our dreams to some external validation which will never be enough motivation to keep going. We set these huge goals without considering how long it will take achieve them, or acquire the new skills required to do so. Thus, we throw in the towel when things get difficult. The reasons why we give up are more subtle. Below are the reasons we give up, and how to counterattack..

We Give Up Because We Lack GRIT | Ways to Counter Attack

Ted Geisel’s manuscript was rejected by 27 different publishers; he almost burned it, but he tried one more time under the pen name Dr Seuss (this is GRIT). The rest, as they say, is history.

GRIT is the inner courage, and the determination to do whatever needs to be done despite the challenges. Most people lack this, often because we never had to get our hands dirty, and that’s why we give up.

To counterattack, you have to develop GRIT. Start by pursuing your interests, practice to be competent, connect with a higher purpose, cultivate hope, and get a gritty community.

We Give Up Because We’re Stuck In Our Comfort Zone | Ways to Counter Attack

A comfort zone is a situation where one feels safe and at ease. Most people give up as they are not comfortable with the uncertainty of being outside their comfort zones. However, growth and success are only possible when you step out of your comfort zone; when you can embrace feeling awkward when trying out something new. Sadly, most people are not willing to step out of their comfort zones.

To counterattack, start by recalibrating your reality; do everyday things differently. Next, take your time making decisions. Slowing down makes you uncomfortable, pushing you out of the zone. Finally, do it in small steps as it takes time.

Our Discipline Evaporates | Ways to Counter Attack

Discipline is doing the right thing for yourself despite the circumstances. It is practising self-restraint, pushing ahead even when it would be easier to give up. Most people who throw in the towel lack this tenacity. They give in to indulgences when restraint becomes difficult.

Cultivating self-discipline helps you counter the destructive habit of giving up. Start by eliminating temptations, eating healthily and regularly, change your routine, reward yourself for small accomplishments, and learn to forgive yourself.

We Give Up When We Don’t Believe It’s Possible | Ways to Counter Attack

Lack or loss of belief that our dreams can come true is a common reason why we give up. When starting, we have a faith that our dream is achievable; that is until we are faced with reality. The challenges, the obstacles, and the time it will take are belief-killers. And lack of belief is a dream killer.

However, these challenges should only strengthen your resolve — counterattack by first winning in your mind. Winning in your mind develops courage and resilience to succeed.

We Suffer A Lack of Focus | Ways to Counter Attack

Another reason why we give up, why we quit, is because we are easily distracted by new things. We lack focus. A dream or end goal requires attention; consistent attention, but the list of distractions is endless. From a new show to trying to make ends meet.

If you are easily distracted by impractical fixations, then there are no excuses. To go on the offensive, reduce your choices, and eliminate your distractions. If your reasons are more demanding, say to keep a roof over your head, try setting aside an hour or two a day to work on your goals.

The Fear of Failure | Ways to Counter Attack

Fear of failure is more like self-sabotage. It is rooted in fear of rejection by others (family and friends), and not in the failure itself. Furthermore, it’s is debilitating. It makes you stop taking chances and you doubt yourself. You result to doing things that are ‘safe.’ And thus give up on your dreams.

To overcome the fear of failure, visualise obstacles, think more appropriately, analyse all potential outcomes, and look at the worst-case scenario. Finally, have a contingency plan, and forget what people will think about you.

Loss Aversion | Ways to Counter Attack

Picture this; a colleague offers to flip a coin, if it lands on heads, she will give you $20. However, you will have to part with $20 should it fall on tails. Would you take the gamble? Probably not; the reward has to be twice the amount you will lose. This is loss aversion; that is, the psychological pain of losing is twice the pleasure of gaining.

Most people give up as they don’t want to lose. Avoiding the worst-case scenario is seen as more beneficial than gaining.

You have to conquer the loss aversion cognitive bias and develop a will to win — mull over why you are hesitating and obliterate each of those obstacles.

Living in an Environment Filled with Negativity | Ways to Counter Attack

Negativity is harmful and contagious, and most people give up as negative Nancys surround them. Surrounding yourself with people with limiting beliefs will kill your dreams faster than any of the other reasons on this list.

To counter attack, you have to cut off toxic people and surround yourself with positive people.

Poor Time Management | Ways to Counter Attack

Not having enough time is an everyday excuse we come up with when asked why we gave up. Talk to some of your colleagues on why they gave up, and odds are lack of time will be one of the many defences.

However, it is poor time management and not lack of time. We will gladly binge watch a new show over working on our dreams. We spend time on pointless ventures, time we should spend acquiring new skills and working on our goals. To overcome, you have to set a schedule and stick to it. You have to prioritise and set boundaries.

We Get Tired of Repetitiveness | Ways to Counter Attack

To achieve your dreams, or acquire what you desire, you have to rinse and repeat everything you do daily. Think of striking an oak tree with an axe a thousand times. If you hit it in 1000 different places, you will not bring it down. But strike it a thousand times in the same spot, and you will bring it down.

Repetition reduces dopamine release, and you are no longer excited about what you are doing. Thus, you throw in the towel as you’re chasing excitement. However, we have to be comfortable with repetitiveness to get to our goals. Try changing how you perform the tasks to prevent the risk of boredom. Changing your workspace or working in a coffee shop or a shared workspace could help. Mix it up to maximise your results.

Let’s face it, we all get mad when people in our lives make stupid mistakes. Whether it’s at home, the office or even complete strangers.

We all mistakes.. However it’s often much easier to point out the mistakes of others, than mistakes of our own doing.

What’s worse is when ‘smart people’ make stupid mistakes. If you’re in the ‘smart’ category it can be super embarrassing when you make stupid mistakes in public.

Recently, I was reading an article on The Knowledge Project, about why people actually make these dumb mistakes in life..

Why Smart People Make Stupid Mistakes

According to the research, people, make mistakes primarily because of these 7 reasons:

Stress

Rushing or urgency

Too much information

Concerned with fitting in

Fixed on a specific outcome

Being outside the comfort zone

Being in the presence of an “authority”

Learning how to minimize each of them, will have you performing at a much higher level.

1. Stress

We’ve all been there. If you’re stressed it’s easy to make mistakes.

To help reduce these mistakes spend some time meditating, creating a set of morning rituals so that you can plan your day more effectively and do some deep breathing exercises.

Less stress will help you make fewer dumb mistakes but it’ll also help you live longer as cortisol is released when you’re stressed.

Remember, less stress equals a longer life!

2. Rushing

Think back to the last time you went rushing out the door trying to make it to work on time. It’s really easy to leave your notes for your work presentation, or forget to bring your lunch.

Minimize rushing by making sure you’re getting up earlier, creating a schedule, and maximizing the time you get each morning. Rush less to do more.

3. Too Much Information

We’re bombarded with information everywhere we go.

There’s never been more information on every single subject, ever.

But sometimes, too much information makes life harder rather than easier.

Instead of looking for another book or another how-to guide, filter out the information coming in and focus on your most important task each day, smash that out and the rest of the day is downhill.

4. Concerned With Fitting In

Most people want to fit in and be accepted by others too much.

Instead, be bold enough to be yourself, not only will you attract the right people into your life you’ll be much happier.

5. Fixed on a Specific Outcome

Sometimes we want very specific results. And when something else happens we get flustered and make stupid mistakes.

Don’t be so concerned with the outcome and instead, focus on getting it right. Even if the outcome isn’t as originally desired.

6. Being Outside Your Comfort Zone

Almost always you have to leave your comfort zone for growth.

But if you find yourself doing it too frequently and not being confident with your skills, mistakes are bound to happen.

While you shouldn’t avoid the comfort zone, make sure you are prepared for every eventuality, each time you do do something outside you zone.

7. Being in the Presence of an “Authority”

The easiest example is having a cop car following you on the road. It’s natural for people to make stupid mistakes that they wouldn’t normally make.

Quit letting “authority figures” bother you. Take a deep breath, relax and I’m confident you’ll avoid making a stupid mistake that could cost you. Remind yourself of everything you’ve overcome so far to even get to this point. This is nothing.

Remember, making mistakes is part of life. Don’t beat yourself up, if you find yourself making the occasional mistake. It’s a human trait that every single person possesses.

But if you find yourself making them a habit, try to identify if one of these seven causes is the reason. Then work on eliminating it from your life for more consistency.

What If The Results Don’t Come? Watch & Grow

I have a love-hate relationship with Instagram. It’s great to connect with people but it’s also addicting at times and can kill productivity.

But recently, I found a motivational quote that really resonated with me and hit home. The crazy part is that the quote is nearly 100 years old, but resonates as much today as it ever has.

If you apply the principles of this quote, it can literally change the course of your life. Here it is …

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill

This quote can guide your life into something great if you truly understand it. Let’s get real, everyone wants success in one way or another.

For some, it’s a monetary success. It’s millions of dollars, fancy cars, private jets, and lavish life.

For others, it’s inner peace. It’s being able to enjoy every day, give back, and help others.

It’s a different version for every person but it’s inherent to humans to want to achieve and prosper.

So what does it mean? Why does it matter?

Let’s break it down …

The Secrets of Success

“Success is not final.”

Success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

The first part of the quote is important and easily missed by so many people on the quest for greatness. Even if you work tirelessly, learn new skills, and grow to achieve success, that does not mean success will stick around.

You have to stay consistent and evolve to keep your level of success. And once you achieve your goal, it’s only natural to want more and keep striving for greatness.

“Failure is not fatal.”

So many people are terrified of failure when in reality, failure is part of any process. No one achieves greatness without failure along the way.

But so many people get failure wrong and interrupt it by thinking failure means it’s time to quit. In reality it’s the exact opposite.

Failure, a way to show you what didn’t work so you can adapt and overcome.

Thomas Edison, Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, and 99% of successful people used what they learned from failures to create what they wanted in life.

“It is the courage to continue that counts.”

Courage is simply being face to face with your fear, and doing it anyway. Often times making a change in life is scary.

But for the most part, it’s only a perception of fear, which usually comes from the survival part of your brain that is just trying to protect you from perceived danger.

But if you’re trying to achieve a life goal and get out of your comfort zone, there is no need to let fear hold you back. Not living a life true to yourself is the number one regret of the dying.

Don’t give into fear, move towards it so much that you become fearless!

Final Thoughts

Ask anyone who’s achieved anything great in life, spiritually, financially or otherwise, and they will tell you it wasn’t always easy. Just because you see people’s highlight reel of life on Instagram, doesn’t mean it’s like that 24/7.

Remember to not compare yourself to others on your own journey of finding success. Keep this quote close and look at it regularly.

Never give up, keep striving, find new strategies, and have the courage to live a life that is true to yourself. I promise you won’t regret it.

Ever find yourself off track with your goals and not where you want to be in life?

I get it, trust me.

I’ve been there more times than I care to remember.

But recently, I started working with a business coach and had a long topic on the conversation.

He said the reason I keep getting off track is that I’m acting on my mood. If I don’t feel like writing, working out, or doing client outreach, then I don’t do it. And that might be why you are constantly falling off track as well..

The key is to forget about how you feel and do it anyway.

As Jim Rohn said, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.”

You may be lacking self-discipline, which can be improved – if you are determined to make it happen.

Your comeback starts now..

4 Ways to Get Your Life Back on Track

1. Admit You’re Not Where You Want to Be | Get Back On Track

It’s time to be brutally honest with yourself and admit what’s going on.

You can have a conversation with someone you trust or even write down in a journal – honestly & openly, where you currently at in life, what your doing wrong & where you want to be.

Admit there’s a problem and your brain will start working autonomously to find a solution.

If you ignore the problem, it won’t magically get better. In fact, this enforces quitting and will make it worse.

Say what you’re really feeling and then ask yourself.. Why are you feeling this way?

Ask yourself what will happen if you don’t get back on track.. Where will you be in 3 months, 6 months or a year if you don’t change?

Identify your reasons, open yourself up and develop a plan to adapt and overcome.

2. Stop Thinking, Start Doing | Get Back On Track

As the “world’s most disciplined man” Craig Ballantyne said, “Action beats anxiety, motion beats meditation, work beats worry.”

Sometimes sitting around thinking is the worst thing you can do.

Overthinking drains your energy making the problem feel overwhelming, and is the best way to hold yourself back from taking action.

Instead, take consistent small action.

Every great journey began with a single step.

Action cures perfectionism. It helps you create momentum to keep the ball rolling.

3. Celebrate Your Victories | Get Back On Track

Let’s say you’re trying to get into the habit of working out but you’ve ditched the resolution and haven’t seen the inside of a gym in a while.

To reignite your fire, keep it simple and start by doing some push ups or bodyweight lunges at home.

Celebrate this small victory. Pat yourself on the back, get excited, and jump around. Change your physiology to change your mindset.

Small victories lead to bigger results. Your brain loves celebration as the feel good chemical dopamine is release, thus ‘training’ your brain to seek more results.

Now think, what other kinds of victories can you get? Start doing anything you’ve been putting off in small doses and then celebrate!

Victories, no matter how big or small, can change your mood and help you keep going. Creating a new habit in the process.

4. Accountability Is KEY | Get Back On Track

Sometimes you just need someone else to support you on your quest, whether it’s to lose weight, start a business or change the world.

Accountability can be a great way to help you stay disciplined.

Don’t be too proud to enroll in a program or hire a coach to help you stay consistent and maintain productivity.

Over time, discipline does become an automatic habit even when you normally you might of put it off.

Don’t let your lazy brain and feelings get in the way of creating the life of your dreams.

Forget what you feel, remember what you deserve.

Fear of failure will ruin your life.

It will limit your happiness, wealth, and success, if you let it.

It holds most people back from living the life of their dreams.

You are not most people.

It forces people to fit into boxes not made for them. It forces people to play it safe and settle for a life they never wanted.

But that’s not going to happen to you in 2019.

If you want to become the beast destiny intended, in any area of your life.

You can’t be afraid to fail. As Will Smith explains failure is integral to success.

You have to understand that failure doesn’t mean you should quit something. It’s simply showing you one way that didn’t work.

Here’s how you can overcome failure and come back stronger than ever.

Your Comeback Story Starts Now

1. Take 100% Responsibility | Bounce Back From Failure

The first step to dealing with failure is to take 100% responsibility. As Jack Canfield said in the Success Principles, “To achieve major success in life, to achieve those things that are most important to you, you must assume 100% responsibility for your life. Nothing less will do.”

Don’t blame anyone else but yourself.

Pushing failure to someone else or something else externally takes away your power.

Instead, think of what it taught you, what you did wrong and what kind of person do you need to become to make it happen.

2. Understand That You’re Not a Failure | Bounce Back From Failure

You are not your failures nor are you your successes. You are you. If you fail, especially if you fail big, you are not a failure. You are a warrior.

“I tried and failed” has 10x the heart of “I never tried.” & only a warrior picks themselves up and goes again & again.

Dwelling on it, especially if it’s emotional to you, will only make the failure gain more power in your life. Instead, acknowledge what happened, learn from it, make a new gameplan and move forward.

Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.

3. Reframe Failures | Bounce Back From Failure

As I said, failures are just showing you a way that didn’t work. It’s not to say you’re supposed to quit something entirely. It’s simply saying, this route doesn’t work, find another way.

Failure is all about what you learn and the experience you gain. Zig Ziglar said, “If you learn from defeat, you haven’t really lost.”

The more you can analyze and learn from your past missteps, the more you can take those lessons into future endeavors.

Remember, just because something didn’t work the first time doesn’t mean you are a failure or your idea didn’t work. It just means you need to get resourceful, find new solutions, and try again.

Always ask for advice, learn from defeat, and keep at it until you reach your goal. Find a way. If you keep knocking on that door for success, eventually it’ll crumble and you’ll find a way in. Stay relentless in your pursuit of greatness.

Remember, your failures are preparing you for massive success.

If you’ve set out on a goal and haven’t found success yet, it’s hard to have the motivation some days.

You might not have the same inspiration you had at the beginning of pursuing your big dream.

I know because I fought this and had to overcome this struggle a couple of months ago. Entrepreneurship kept feeling like it was kicking me when I was down.

But I kept reminding myself that success isn’t supposed to be easy or everyone would have million dollar homes and supercars.

Instead, I flipped the way I looked at everything.

I quit thinking of my “failures” and started focusing on how it was helping me become the person, who could be successful.

I started embracing the situation and appreciating the benefits.

You can do the same by learning these three crucial lessons of success:

Fail Your Way to Success

1. You Develop Grit and Perseverance

One of the best parts about “failing” is that you get tough. You learn how much you really want the goal. And if you’re like me, you really want it.

But tough times are also an opportunity to reflect on what you’ve already accomplished. You didn’t make it to where you are now by accident; you’ve worked hard, gained wisdom, and have probably helped people along the way. Now is the time to reflect on those accomplishments and congratulate yourself for how far you’ve come.

In that reflection time, it’s inevitable that you’ll begin to realize how resilient you’ve become. And that’s a trait that will make you successful you in any endeavor the rest of your life. It can’t be taught, it’s something you have to go through on your own.

Quit beating yourself up for not finding the goal line yet and focus on how much stronger and smarter you are. Remember, as Samuel Johnson said, “Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance.”

2. You Learn To Find New Solutions

If you’re working hard and long, sometimes it’s the Universe trying to tell you something. It might be trying to help you find a new solution to the problem you’re trying to solve. In my case, I found that I wasn’t finding success in certain entrepreneurial activities because I kept trying the same methods over and over again.

You may need to learn how to better balance your energy, learn new skills, and find people that can help you get to the goal. And you might learn new skills or attract new people that you probably wouldn’t have if you already found success.

3. You Find Hidden Life Lessons

The last part of “failing your way to success” is that you learn some hidden lessons that you can’t read in any book or listen to in any podcast. Some things you just have to go through on your own to really feel them.

You’re going to learn so much more about yourself in tough time or when things are failing than you’ll ever learn when you’re coasting to success.

As Fred Brooks said,

“You can learn more from failure than success. In failure, you’re forced to find out what part did not work. But in success, you can believe everything you did was great when in fact some parts may not have worked at all. Failure forces you face reality.”

Instead of focusing on the frustration and discouragement of the short term, shift your focus instead on how this time can help you in the long term. The only thing you can do is adapt, learn, and keep moving forward. If you quit, you’ll never know if the day after that would’ve been the day you found massive success.

Stop Believing You Will Fail Before You Begin

Today and throughout history, there have been people that seemed to accomplish the impossible. Whether it was to climb to the top of the highest mountain, sail the impossible sea, or locate a missing civilization, those individuals believed they could do something everyone else said was impossible, yet they did it anyway – and succeeded. There have also been individuals that failed to accomplish even the most basic goal. So what is the difference between these two types of people?

The difference between the two is confidence and believing they can accomplish whatever they set mind to. Oftentimes, people who don’t succeed at relatively easy tasks convinced themselves they would fail before they even began. Many people don’t realize that the mind is incredibly powerful and can have a real influence on behavior. Here are three ways you can stop believing you will fail, so you give yourself the best chance to succeed.

1. Learn To Be Patient With Yourself

Everyone must learn to crawl or scoot before they can walk, just as they must learn to read a book before they can write a novel. If you are one of those people that wants to reach for stars, but you don’t want to learn how to get there, you are setting yourself up for failure. Whether it is losing the last five pounds you want to battle, the promise to yourself about writing a chapter in your novel each day, or dedicating yourself to volunteer three evenings a week to the nearby homeless shelter, if you find yourself being too inflexible, you will become discouraged and disheartened after the first time you miss your self-imposed deadline. That will set you up to look at yourself as a failure.

2. Accept Change To Experience Growth

Few people like to throw their world into chaos by changing what they are familiar with, but it is often the change that causes growth. An example would be finding a job in a new city to change our lifestyle, ending a relationship with a toxic friend, or getting help to end an addiction. Holding onto what is comfortable is admitting you don’t believe you can succeed in changing the pattern of destructive behavior or thought patterns that you recognize as harmful. If you don’t believe you can change, how will you ever break the pattern that haunts you?

3. Think in Positives, Not Negatives

When you feel down, the world looks bleak. Doors appear to be shut, time seems to drag, and everyone looks like they are frowning at you. Negative things are sure to happen in your life, but research has shown that if you expect the negative to rule your life, it will because it appears to be contagious and magnetic. That is, if you look for negativity, you will find it – and share it with others. Sadly, being blue, sad, lonely, unhappy, and grouchy are emotions that are all part of life, but they don’t have to take over your life. If you are having a bad moment, realize it is just a moment. If you expect bad days, bad weeks, or bad months, you are setting yourself up for long negative times in your life instead of a bad moment surrounded by good thoughts, laughter with friends, and relaxing hours.

You can’t control your entire world, but you can believe in yourself when the unexpected pops into your life to throw your world into chaos. Understand that you have the ability to react in different ways to any given situation and remember to be flexible as you keep in mind, you can do it – no matter what it is. If you take that first baby step, pick yourself up when you fall, and lean on someone for help when you need it, you can do anything you believe you can. All you need to do is stop believing you will fail and start believing you will succeed.

Success is hard, It’s definitely the road less traveled, If you truly want success first you must face 5 tough truths.

Most people don’t have what it takes to become successful. It’s easier to skip the gym, go to an average job, eat out, hang out with friends, and retire.

But success requires discipline. It requires risk, facing your fears, and endless amounts of disappointment.

But if you make it through it all you can be successful, inspire others and change the world.

5 Tough Truths If You Want To Become Successful

1. You Must Have a Vision That Motivates You | 5 Tough Truths

Without a clear vision, success is impossible. You need to know what you’re trying to achieve so you can make a plan to make it happen. Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about having a vision as the number one rule for success in his epic commencement speech.

Define your vision. Are you going to work remotely and travel the world? Start a charity? Become the CEO of a fitness company?

Your vision must be crystal clear. Once you find your vision, remind yourself every single day what you are striving for. Your vision will become your purpose, your drive, allowing to go above and beyond. Your hunger will spur you to go further and think bigger than others.

The strength of your vision is a predictor of the likelihood of your success.

2. You Can’t Be Afraid of Failure | 5 Tough Truths

Average is easy as you don’t risk failing often, or ever. But it ’s a boring way to go through life.

Once you commit to becoming successful, failure is inevitable. I left a corporate, high paying job for entrepreneurship in 2017 and can tell you first hand, failure isn’t optional. It’s part of the process to become the ultimate version of yourself.

As Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.”

Remember, the most successful people in the world were the ones that failed the most. As long as you keep going and learn from your failures, success is inevitable. But if you quit, failure is guaranteed.

3. You Must Be Consistent and Persistent | 5 Tough Truths

As the great Napoleon Hill said, “Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.”

Success isn’t a one-time thing. It’s all the little things you do over and over again that eventually lead to “overnight success.” You must become relentless in your approach to success.

Whether that’s waking up at 3 am, staying up late, hitting the phones or attending endless amounts of events and seminars. Success requires you to stay diligent and not take your foot off the gas.

If you want more CONSISTENCY – WATCH THIS:

4. You Must Create Strong Habits and Have The Discipline To Stick To Them | 5 Tough Truths

Willpower doesn’t work. It’s a muscle and like all muscles, it will fail at times. Instead of relying on willpower, create why-power. Think about why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Then create habits and rituals that you can do on a daily basis that will set you up for success. Instead of leaving anything to chance or willpower, build in success rituals to make it effortless to succeed.

5. You Must Take Calculated Risks | 5 Tough Truths

Going out and pursuing your dreams take a strong person. It takes someone who isn’t afraid to take risks when necessary. Playing it safe never creates a big and successful life.

You have to get out of your comfort zone and do things you don’t want to do for maximum success.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the day, success is a privilege, not a given just because you want it. If you have a big dream or vision you can do it but it won’t be easy.

Once you create a compelling vision, it’s up to you and only you to make it happen. You’ll have plenty of naysayers along the way. Let them talk, it doesn’t concern you.

Remember, critics, don’t get statues. If you want to be great I challenge you to go out and pursue your biggest, wildest dreams.

You only get one life. Go out there and make each day count. And don’t forget, make sure you enjoy the process as much as the result.
