Why do we give up on our dreams? The odds are that you have given up on a goal before. And if you’re reading this, you are on the hunt for a way to counter-attack and get back to your best.

We tend to judge success by the day.. Not seeing the bigger picture. A perfect example of not seeing the forest for the trees. We also tie our dreams to some external validation which will never be enough motivation to keep going. We set these huge goals without considering how long it will take achieve them, or acquire the new skills required to do so. Thus, we throw in the towel when things get difficult. The reasons why we give up are more subtle. Below are the reasons we give up, and how to counterattack..

We Give Up Because We Lack GRIT | Ways to Counter Attack

Ted Geisel’s manuscript was rejected by 27 different publishers; he almost burned it, but he tried one more time under the pen name Dr Seuss (this is GRIT). The rest, as they say, is history.

GRIT is the inner courage, and the determination to do whatever needs to be done despite the challenges. Most people lack this, often because we never had to get our hands dirty, and that’s why we give up.

To counterattack, you have to develop GRIT. Start by pursuing your interests, practice to be competent, connect with a higher purpose, cultivate hope, and get a gritty community.

We Give Up Because We’re Stuck In Our Comfort Zone | Ways to Counter Attack

A comfort zone is a situation where one feels safe and at ease. Most people give up as they are not comfortable with the uncertainty of being outside their comfort zones. However, growth and success are only possible when you step out of your comfort zone; when you can embrace feeling awkward when trying out something new. Sadly, most people are not willing to step out of their comfort zones.

To counterattack, start by recalibrating your reality; do everyday things differently. Next, take your time making decisions. Slowing down makes you uncomfortable, pushing you out of the zone. Finally, do it in small steps as it takes time.

Our Discipline Evaporates | Ways to Counter Attack

Discipline is doing the right thing for yourself despite the circumstances. It is practising self-restraint, pushing ahead even when it would be easier to give up. Most people who throw in the towel lack this tenacity. They give in to indulgences when restraint becomes difficult.

Cultivating self-discipline helps you counter the destructive habit of giving up. Start by eliminating temptations, eating healthily and regularly, change your routine, reward yourself for small accomplishments, and learn to forgive yourself.

We Give Up When We Don’t Believe It’s Possible | Ways to Counter Attack

Lack or loss of belief that our dreams can come true is a common reason why we give up. When starting, we have a faith that our dream is achievable; that is until we are faced with reality. The challenges, the obstacles, and the time it will take are belief-killers. And lack of belief is a dream killer.

However, these challenges should only strengthen your resolve — counterattack by first winning in your mind. Winning in your mind develops courage and resilience to succeed.

We Suffer A Lack of Focus | Ways to Counter Attack

Another reason why we give up, why we quit, is because we are easily distracted by new things. We lack focus. A dream or end goal requires attention; consistent attention, but the list of distractions is endless. From a new show to trying to make ends meet.

If you are easily distracted by impractical fixations, then there are no excuses. To go on the offensive, reduce your choices, and eliminate your distractions. If your reasons are more demanding, say to keep a roof over your head, try setting aside an hour or two a day to work on your goals.

The Fear of Failure | Ways to Counter Attack

Fear of failure is more like self-sabotage. It is rooted in fear of rejection by others (family and friends), and not in the failure itself. Furthermore, it’s is debilitating. It makes you stop taking chances and you doubt yourself. You result to doing things that are ‘safe.’ And thus give up on your dreams.

To overcome the fear of failure, visualise obstacles, think more appropriately, analyse all potential outcomes, and look at the worst-case scenario. Finally, have a contingency plan, and forget what people will think about you.

Loss Aversion | Ways to Counter Attack

Picture this; a colleague offers to flip a coin, if it lands on heads, she will give you $20. However, you will have to part with $20 should it fall on tails. Would you take the gamble? Probably not; the reward has to be twice the amount you will lose. This is loss aversion; that is, the psychological pain of losing is twice the pleasure of gaining.

Most people give up as they don’t want to lose. Avoiding the worst-case scenario is seen as more beneficial than gaining.

You have to conquer the loss aversion cognitive bias and develop a will to win — mull over why you are hesitating and obliterate each of those obstacles.

Living in an Environment Filled with Negativity | Ways to Counter Attack

Negativity is harmful and contagious, and most people give up as negative Nancys surround them. Surrounding yourself with people with limiting beliefs will kill your dreams faster than any of the other reasons on this list.

To counter attack, you have to cut off toxic people and surround yourself with positive people.

Poor Time Management | Ways to Counter Attack

Not having enough time is an everyday excuse we come up with when asked why we gave up. Talk to some of your colleagues on why they gave up, and odds are lack of time will be one of the many defences.

However, it is poor time management and not lack of time. We will gladly binge watch a new show over working on our dreams. We spend time on pointless ventures, time we should spend acquiring new skills and working on our goals. To overcome, you have to set a schedule and stick to it. You have to prioritise and set boundaries.

We Get Tired of Repetitiveness | Ways to Counter Attack

To achieve your dreams, or acquire what you desire, you have to rinse and repeat everything you do daily. Think of striking an oak tree with an axe a thousand times. If you hit it in 1000 different places, you will not bring it down. But strike it a thousand times in the same spot, and you will bring it down.

Repetition reduces dopamine release, and you are no longer excited about what you are doing. Thus, you throw in the towel as you’re chasing excitement. However, we have to be comfortable with repetitiveness to get to our goals. Try changing how you perform the tasks to prevent the risk of boredom. Changing your workspace or working in a coffee shop or a shared workspace could help. Mix it up to maximise your results.

There’s a myth out there that confidence is something you’re born with. Either you have it or you don’t.

That’s 100% false.

Confidence isn’t something you are born with, it’s something you can acquire.

If you think powerful CEOs, Olympic athletes, and world-class performers are born confident…you’re wrong.

Confidence is just a habit that is developed over time. As Robert Kiyosaki said, “Confidence comes from strict discipline and training.”

Here are seven ways you can train your mind and body to think, feel, and act confidently in any situation in life.

5 Ways to Regain Your Confidence

1. Use Positive Self Talk

What are you saying to yourself on a regular basis? Is your self-talk empowering and positive or negative and pessimistic?

As brain expert, Jim Kwik said, “Studies show that negative self-talk is associated with higher levels of stress and depression.”

A lot of people say things to themselves they would never say to other people. Why is that?

Here’s the thing, your brain is always listening to what you’re saying. Not only what you say to others but the interval talk about your own life.

While I’m not recommending that you lie to yourself because some self-talk is constructive and can actually make you better. But some of it is so negative, it hurts the ability to make progress.

For example, let’s say you’re overweight right now and know that you need to lose weight. First off, congratulate yourself for having the awareness that you need to lose weight to live a better life. Now, the self-talk comes in.

Negative self-talk would be statements like:

“I’m so fat”

“I’ve always been this way, I can’t ever lose weight.”

“I’m always letting myself down and can’t ever achieve my goals.”

On the other hand, positive self-talk would sound like:

“I’m excited to get in the gym and start releasing this weight for good.”

“I’m proud of myself for having the discipline to wake up early and go on a run.”

You have to make a choice to be optimistic and engage in positive self-talk. Don’t beat yourself up for whatever you’re going through.

Become your own best friend and use self-talk to fuel massive changes in your life. A good rule of thumb, if you wouldn’t’ say something to someone else, don’t say it to yourself!

2. Get It Done

Confidence is built on accomplishment. If you achieve small and big goals, you’re going to feel much better about yourself.

It all begins with your activity on a daily basis. One of my coaches, Jim Fortin, talks about the importance of having self-integrity. If you say you’re going to do something, you do it. Whether you feel like it or not.

By doing the things you need to do, regardless of how you’re feeling, you will develop self-integrity with yourself. By keeping the promises you make to yourself will make that part of your identity.

This will program your mind to make completing tasks part of who you are.

Think about it, you will respect yourself if you say you’re going to do something and you do it. Not to mention, belief in yourself will come easier, because you know you are not afraid of the work.

This type of daily accomplishment will give you tons of confidence to help you reach your short-term and long-term goals effortlessly.

3. Visualize Yourself Being Confident

Creative visualization is one of the best ways to help you achieve any goal in life, including the goal to have more confidence within yourself. Olympic athletes, CEOs and high performers understand the power of visualization. Because as Napoleon Hill said, “What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.”

Visualization works because your brain doesn’t understand the difference between imagination and reality. If you visualize yourself being confident and showing up in the world how you want to on a regular basis, your brain will start to believe.

The trick is to get into a very relaxed state (usually after meditation), close your eyes and imagine being a confident version of yourself. Whether it’s at work, in social settings or speaking with strangers. Imagine yourself carrying conversations, being smooth and people liking you.

Do this over and over again. The brain learns through repetition.

The more you can ingrain this feeling in your nervous system, the faster it will happen in the external world.

4. Help Others

Let’s say you’re great at sales or a sport but you’ve lost confidence for some reason. It’s at these moments where it’s vital to monitor self-talk and remember how good you are. One way to show yourself that is to help others.

Find someone who is trying to do what you’re doing and help them. Instead of focusing on your own temporary confidence issues, volunteer, mentor, or teach someone else. Not only will you see them grow, you will help them move forward.

5. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway

Think back to the last time you had fear in life and faced it head-on. Maybe it was public speaking or skydiving. If you think about it, I’m sure you scared of it because you weren’t very confident. When you feel in control, you’re not afraid. When you have a level of comfort with something, it’s not scary.

Every single wildly successful person has been afraid, and they’ve kept working and taking risks anyway. Everyone who has achieved anything significant fought past the fear and focused on the task at hand.

The next time you feel the fear, think about how much you want to achieve your goal, then put your fear to the side, and keep going. The trick is to go one day at a time.

Final Thoughts on Confidence

If you’re struggling in your own confidence battle, keep going. Use these tips to help push you forward.

Remember, if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you will get what you’ve always gotten. Mix it up and find the confidence within yourself to achieve your biggest goals and dreams.

Let’s face it, we all get mad when people in our lives make stupid mistakes. Whether it’s at home, the office or even complete strangers.

We all mistakes.. However it’s often much easier to point out the mistakes of others, than mistakes of our own doing.

What’s worse is when ‘smart people’ make stupid mistakes. If you’re in the ‘smart’ category it can be super embarrassing when you make stupid mistakes in public.

Recently, I was reading an article on The Knowledge Project, about why people actually make these dumb mistakes in life..

Why Smart People Make Stupid Mistakes

According to the research, people, make mistakes primarily because of these 7 reasons:

Stress

Rushing or urgency

Too much information

Concerned with fitting in

Fixed on a specific outcome

Being outside the comfort zone

Being in the presence of an “authority”

Learning how to minimize each of them, will have you performing at a much higher level.

1. Stress

We’ve all been there. If you’re stressed it’s easy to make mistakes.

To help reduce these mistakes spend some time meditating, creating a set of morning rituals so that you can plan your day more effectively and do some deep breathing exercises.

Less stress will help you make fewer dumb mistakes but it’ll also help you live longer as cortisol is released when you’re stressed.

Remember, less stress equals a longer life!

2. Rushing

Think back to the last time you went rushing out the door trying to make it to work on time. It’s really easy to leave your notes for your work presentation, or forget to bring your lunch.

Minimize rushing by making sure you’re getting up earlier, creating a schedule, and maximizing the time you get each morning. Rush less to do more.

3. Too Much Information

We’re bombarded with information everywhere we go.

There’s never been more information on every single subject, ever.

But sometimes, too much information makes life harder rather than easier.

Instead of looking for another book or another how-to guide, filter out the information coming in and focus on your most important task each day, smash that out and the rest of the day is downhill.

4. Concerned With Fitting In

Most people want to fit in and be accepted by others too much.

Instead, be bold enough to be yourself, not only will you attract the right people into your life you’ll be much happier.

5. Fixed on a Specific Outcome

Sometimes we want very specific results. And when something else happens we get flustered and make stupid mistakes.

Don’t be so concerned with the outcome and instead, focus on getting it right. Even if the outcome isn’t as originally desired.

6. Being Outside Your Comfort Zone

Almost always you have to leave your comfort zone for growth.

But if you find yourself doing it too frequently and not being confident with your skills, mistakes are bound to happen.

While you shouldn’t avoid the comfort zone, make sure you are prepared for every eventuality, each time you do do something outside you zone.

7. Being in the Presence of an “Authority”

The easiest example is having a cop car following you on the road. It’s natural for people to make stupid mistakes that they wouldn’t normally make.

Quit letting “authority figures” bother you. Take a deep breath, relax and I’m confident you’ll avoid making a stupid mistake that could cost you. Remind yourself of everything you’ve overcome so far to even get to this point. This is nothing.

Remember, making mistakes is part of life. Don’t beat yourself up, if you find yourself making the occasional mistake. It’s a human trait that every single person possesses.

But if you find yourself making them a habit, try to identify if one of these seven causes is the reason. Then work on eliminating it from your life for more consistency.

What If The Results Don’t Come? Watch & Grow

Beyonce is all kinds of incredible. After starting her career as part of Destiny Child she has gone to unbelievable levels of success. She has sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide and continues to dominate the entertainment industry.

Alongside her husband and hip-hop star Jay-Z, they are a force of the music world. But she’s had to overcome a lot of adversity on her meteoric rise to the top. Use these Beyonce quotes to get the inspiration to take your life to the next level.

Beyonce Quotes That Will Inspire Self Belief

“My focus is my art, and that’s what I love to do. I have to be really passionate in order to do something. I’ve turned down many things that I just didn’t believe in.” – Beyonce

Are you focused on your own art? Are you spending time on what you’re passionate about in your life and career or business?

If not, I recommend spending time and figuring out how you can do more of it. Too many people go through life without spending time on work that is meaningful.

Try to find one or two things that really motivate and inspire you. Whether it’s a career change, side hustle or hobby. Working on your passion will make you feel alive each day.

“I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself.” – Beyonce Quotes

You should always bet on yourself. If you want to get do anything epic in life you have to believe and invest in yourself. You can’t afford not too.

Spend time and money on yourself. Bet on your future even if you’ve had some tough failures in your past. Operate from future potential, not the past experiences.

“I wanted to sell a million records, and I sold a million records. I wanted to go platinum, and I went platinum. I’ve been working nonstop since I was 15. I don’t even know how to chill out.” – Beyonce

Do you have a clear list of goals that you are trying to achieve? Beyonce proves that setting goals and having a vision is key to making it happen.

And it’s important to have both goals and a vision. Your vision is your guiding force, the way you see it happening. While your goals are the action steps that will turn your vision into reality.

“When you love and accept yourself when you know who really cares about you, and when you learn from your mistakes, then you stop caring about what people who don’t know you think.” – Beyonce Quotes

The more fame she’s gained the more haters as well. It’s only natural.

Do you have any haters in your inner circle? Are your friends and family looking out for your best interest? I hope so because the people you surround yourself with can have a huge impact on your life.

“We all have our imperfections. But I’m human, and you know, it’s important to concentrate on other qualities besides outer beauty.” – Beyonce

No one is perfect, even Beyonce. It’s easy to see celebrities like her and think everything is perfect. But it’s just not true.

Don’t focus on being perfect, focus on becoming the best version of yourself. Never spend time comparing yourself to others, instead compare yourself to your former self. This will help you experience joy like never before.

Use these Beyonce quotes to find inspiration to pursue your goals and dreams. Don’t worry about trying to impress others. Instead, spend time impressing yourself.

I promise you’ll get more satisfaction than you ever have to worry about someone else’s opinion of you.

Most of us grumble and groan when we get stuck viewing a TV advertisement. But once in a generation one comes along that not only gets our attention; it shapes our destiny..

Over the years there have been many classics that make us laugh, cry, and ponder life a little more deeply. These two timeless tour de forces take it one step farther. They help us contemplate the vastly important role we play in shaping our own success. Enjoy these flashback broadcasts that teach us exactly how to step forward in life….

‘Think Different’ Original: Apple, 1997

Twenty years ago Apple experienced incredible growth, tripling their stock price in just one calendar year.

Twenty-one years ago Apple was in trouble and headed towards failed obscurity.

What changed in those 12 months?

It was 1997. Co-founder Steve Jobs had been back at the company for just one year after having been ousted 12 years prior due to poor sales of his Macintosh concept. Now he was interim CEO of a company that was experiencing declining profits and a reputation for making fun artistic toys rather than top-tier business technology. He made a decision: he was going to change everything, the face of the company’s public persona from the ground up.

The outcome of that decision was this anti-establishment masterpiece:

According to the creative director at the agency who designed the advertisement, Jobs initially liked ‘The Crazy Ones’ pitch. Yet he was afraid that his reputation as an egotist might get him “skewered by the press” if he equated Apple with geniuses such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Ghandi. Then Jobs checked himself, saying two words that sent Apple soaring into the history books as the worldwide leader of consumer electronics and media sales:

“Screw it.”

You see, Jobs decided to forge ahead with this legendary advertisement because he’d already learned two valuable life lessons from his early years as an entrepreneurial thought leader:

He’d discovered the value of following his own instincts, rather than giving his power over to naysayers who had no stake in the outcome.

He’d learned to embrace his own unique style, and used that self-love to help the company he’d co-founded soar to unsurpassed heights.

This one commercial went on to generate such enormous buzz that it allowed for the historic and groundbreaking successful launch of the Apple iMacs in 1998.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The ones who see things differently. While some may see them as ‘the crazy ones’, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world – are the ones who do.”

‘Maybe It’s My Fault’: Michael Jordan for Nike, 2008

Nike and ‘Air’ Jordan have an iconic relationship that dates back to 1984 when the sport’s legend laced up a pair of black and red Airships during his rookie preseason. MJ was told in no uncertain terms by the NBA to lose his revolutionary style and conform to his team’s color scheme, as per the rules.

The ‘Banned’ commercial that resulted was a bold move by Jordan, who hadn’t yet shown the world just how it’s done.

His audacity struck many at the time as being overly arrogant, but nearly 25 years later another collaborative project took place between the retail giant and the free throw genius which revealed the secret behind Jordan’s unshakable certainty so many years ago.

As this enlightening advertisement reveals, it was Jordan’s self-confidence and not his arrogance that instigated his decision to stand his ground against the world’s most powerful professional basketball organization. Here’s what we came to understand about this Master Life Manifestor:

Back in 1984 he already knew that his future success was ensured because he’d done the gritty, humbling, limit-pushing hard work that is a requirement of triumph. Every single day.

He’d experienced a life full of failures born from his attitude of risk-taking, and so had learned firsthand that these losses are simply signposts to future successes.

You see, Michael Jordan spent his early years not taking ‘no’ for an answer. That’s why he didn’t even blink when NBA commissioner David Stern declared his sneakers forbidden. He took that rejection, turned it around to made Nike and himself immense profits – and got some new shoes in the process.

With the October release of the Air Jordan XXXIII, it’s good to look back and celebrate Michael Jordan’s prowess both on and off the court. This illuminating quote reveals the true tale of just how champions are made:

“Maybe it’s my fault, maybe I made you think my highlights started at the free throw line and not in the gym. Maybe I made you think that …my game was built on flash and not fire. Maybe it’s my fault that you didn’t see that failure gave me strength. Maybe I led you to believe it was easy. Or maybe you’re just making excuses.” – Michael Jordan

Public speaking is the #1 fear in the world. In some studies, people have said they’d rather die than speak in public.

Can you believe that?

The majority of people hate public speaking because the fear that is associated with speaking in front of a live audience.

That’s why I personally admire anyone who speaks in public especially motivational speakers like Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, and others.

To not only get up in a room full of strangers but to help people make massive change is extraordinary. Luckily, you don’t have to be Tony or Jack to become an awesome public speaker.

Use these public speaking tips to get rid of the fear of public speaking and start helping others make changes in their lives.

8 Public Speaking Techniques

1. Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway

Public speaking is one of the five biggest fears in life. Most people think of top public speakers and assume that they don’t get nervous but most of them that’s not true.

One of the most sought out speakers, Mel Robbins, said she still gets nervous before every event. And she speaks all over the world!

Instead of using this fear against her, she uses it to her advantage. As she said her best-selling book, The 5-Second Rule, “Your brain doesn’t know the difference between fear and anxiety. It’s up to you to let your brain know you’re excited, not scared.”

2. Only Speak About What You Know | Public Speaking Techniques

The easiest way to get flustered, nervous and want to run off stage is if you don’t know what you’re talking about. Only agree to do public speaking on topics that you know a ton about. Keep your message simple.

Don’t try to become an expert about a topic you know nothing about the day before the event. Start with a core message around one or two topics and go from there. The last thing you want is to feel overwhelmed when you’re on stage.

3. Convince Yourself, Not the Audience | Public Speaking Techniques

So many people make this mistake when they start public speaking. They try to sell the audience on their message to the audience. This is the wrong approach.

All they need is to believe that you believe what you’re saying. This simple tweak will reframe how you prepare and make it easy to speak on stage.

4. Use Stories, Not Stats | Public Speaking Techniques

If you want to be remembered for more than a day, you have to learn how to tell stories, not share facts with your audience. People attending will get bored if you’re throwing stats at them over and over again.

Instead, you should try to become a master storyteller. Not only will this help you stay on topic but it’ll flow more natural than repeating a bunch of numbers from a survey or study. Telling stories is one of the oldest ways of sharing messages with other people.

Not only will your audience remember you but you’ll have more fun and find yourself much less nervous.

5. Keep Your Message Simple | Public Speaking Techniques

The old saying, “keep it simple stupid” really applies to public speaking as much as anything. If you have a super complicated topic or a 14 step process for an audience it’ll confuse you and the audience.

People can only consume and digest a certain amount of information in one day, especially in a multi-speaker event. Before you go on stage, remind yourself of the core message you want people to remember.

Remind yourself of how your knowledge and speech can help them take action to improve their lives. If you’re using any slides make sure they are simple as well.

Don’t have a ton of slides with a lot of words and graphics. Less is more when it comes

6. Use Authority To Convey Your Message | Public Speaking Techniques

If you’re just starting in public speaking, I’m sure you are beyond nervous. But how you show up to the stage will greatly affect your confidence and ease your fears. Pay attention to your body language is impacting your message.

Your words will resonate with the audience if you’re physiology is the right state. Make sure your chin is up, you’re speaking confidently, and your posture matches as well.

Before you head out on stage take a few deep breaths and affirm your greatness to yourself.

7. Create a Power Ritual Before Heading On Stage | Public Speaking Techniques

Another awesome public speaking technique is one that Tony Robbins does before every event. Backstage, he jumps on a rebounder (basically a mini-trampoline) to adjust his physiology and increase his energy.

Then, he repeats a mantra that he’s used over and over again to get him into a peak state. Despite speaking to millions of people over 40 years he still does this simple ritual.

While you don’t need a rebounder, you should create a similar ritual. One that builds confidence in yourself and your ability before going on stage. Whether it’s an affirmation of “I am confident, I am worthy, and I am impacting others”, physical activity or something else.

Create a trigger before speaking that builds energy and excitement.

8. Strive to Improve | Public Speaking Techniques

If you’re like most people, you want to be great at something instantly. But public speaking is like any skill, it takes time to get great.

Give yourself permission to get better over time. It’s okay if you’re not great at the start.

Steve Jobs is my favorite example of this. I’m sure you know him as the epic speaker that delivered keynotes to unveil the hottest and industry-changing products in the world. But it wasn’t always like that for Steve.

In fact, he used to get so nervous before interviews and speaking that’d he have to throw up beforehand. The thought of public speaking terrified him it made him physically sick. And now he’s regarded as one of the greatest CEO speakers ever.

Remember, the goal of public speaking is to get your message out and change lives. If you can get one person in the audience to use your words and take action, you’re well on your way to becoming a world-class speaker.

Whether you want to become the top motivational speaker on the planet or just a better manager of your team, it’s 100% possible with these tips. Remember, it’s okay to feel nervous. Don’t let that be a reason that holds you back from sharing your words with the world.

As Mark Twain said, “There are two kinds of speakers, those who are nervous and those who are liars.” Use these public speaking techniques to master the stage and transform your audience.

Tom Brady was an average college quarterback, his combined statistics prior to the 2000 draft were at best average and that’s being generous, he was drafted unenthusiastically as the 199th pick, in the sixth round by the New England Patriots.

Scout, Joel Buchsbaum’s report on Tom Brady prior to the 2000 draft: “Poor build. Very skinny and narrow. Ended the ‘99 season weighing 195 pounds and still looks like a rail at 211. Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength. Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. Can’t drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral.”

The only person in the NFL that believed in Tom Brady was himself…

Robert Kraft, New England Patriots owner relived his first meeting with Tom Brady: This skinny, beanpole of a young man walked over to me and said “Hi, Mr. Kraft, I wanna introduce myself. I’m Tom Brady.’. I said, “I know who you are. You’re our 6th round draft choice.” And I always remember, he looked me like a laser eye-to-eye, and he said, “That’s right, and I’m the best decision this organization has ever made.”

Tom Brady would go on to lead the New England Patriots to eight Super Bowl appearances, winning five and collecting four Super Bowl MVP’s, the most of any player in history.

As a result of Tom Brady’s steely self-belief and absurd level of determination he has now entered the conversation for the best quarterback of all time.

Tom Brady Quotes To Become Extraordinary

“If you don’t believe in yourself, why is anyone else going to believe in you?” – Tom Brady

Tom is sometimes known as cocky by other players because he’s extremely confident in his own ability. He believes in himself because he has put in the work for over two decades giving him the self-belief to back himself.

Let me ask you, are you believing in yourself enough? If not, is it because you haven’t put in the work? Is it because your habits don’t align to achieve your desired level of success?

Strive to get better every single day. Do the little things right each day and you will build belief within yourself.

“Too often in life, something happens and we blame other people for us not being happy or satisfied or fulfilled. So the point is, we all have choices, and we make the choice to accept people or situations or to not accept situations.” – Tom Brady

Blaming others for anything wrong in your life is the easiest way to never reach your dreams and goals. If you give others your ability to succeed, it’s really hard to make positive changes in your life.

Take 100% responsibility for everything in your life. This will give you the power to change it.

“You wanna know which ring is my favorite? The next one.” – Tom Brady Quotes

Despite playing nearly 20 years, Tom Brady is still hungry for the next one. He is obsessed with every practice, every game, and the process behind success.

You should act the same with your life. Create a life that makes you excited to wake up every day, not just go through the motions of a job that pays the bills.

“We all have experiences in our lives that change us, and we all learn from people, like my dad, but at the end of the day, it’s only us. And we’re only responsible to make ourselves happy.” – Tom Brady

Hear that again, you are responsible for making yourself happy. Not your significant other, your kids or your friends. It’s 100% up to you to make it happen!

“I didn’t come this far to only come this far, so we’ve still got further to go.” – Tom Brady

Human potential is nearly limitless. Tom is still playing at elite levels despite being 42 years old, the 2nd oldest player in the league. And he’s done it because of his insane work ethic and discipline.

I challenge you to do the same in your life. Even if you’re as rich and successful as you’ve ever been, you can keep going. Never settle because as Tony Robbins said, “Progress equals happiness.”

“You have to believe in your process. You have to believe in the things that you are doing to help the team win. I think you have to take the good with the bad.” – Tom Brady Quotes

If you don’t love the process, you’re probably never going to achieve the big wins in your own life. You have to love practice as much as the championship games in your life and business.

Use these Tom Brady quotes to take you life to the next level. Remember, you don’t have to be born with talent to become extraordinary.

Learn from Tom by putting in the work, striving to get better, and always believing in yourself.

If you don’t know Ed Mylett yet, I promise you will very soon. He’s an ultra-successful entrepreneur and peak performance coach to athletes and entrepreneurs worldwide.

Not to mention, Forbes listed him as a top 50 under 50 with a net worth of around $400 million. Aside from his financial accomplishments, he’s also one of the fittest 40 something’s in the world.

With the slogan, “max out” he is a living example of maxing out every area of his life. His podcast, “#MaxOut With Ed Mylett” has taken off and already inspired millions worldwide. Plus, he just his first book, #MaxOut Your Life: Strategies for Becoming an Elite Performer.”

Despite all the accomplishments, he’s also one of the most genuinely good human beings in the world. Watch any podcast with him and you can tell he cares about helping others more than anything. After being mentored and convinced by Tony Robbins to share his story, Ed is a rising star in the business and personal development world.

Here’s what I’ve learned from the $400 million dollar man after listening to his show and seeing him speak live.

Ed Mylett’s Top Five Lessons To Create An Epic Life

1. Don’t Just Visualize, Touch The Dream

Despite being worth $400 million and having some of the nicest homes in the world, this wasn’t always the case. Ed grew up in a middle-income home and hit rock bottom in his own finances in his early 20’s. He’s said in several interviews he was so broke that he and his newlywed wife had to use the outdoor shower by the pool when the water got turned off.

But as he began to build his fortune he used powerful techniques to help manifest more into his life. Instead of just using a vision board he would physically “touch the dream.” He would take his wife to a fancy restaurant, stay at the Ritz Carlton for a night, and reward himself for reaching his goals.

He said that method primed his mind to believe he was capable of doing these things regularly.

2. Keep The Promises You Make to Yourself

If you watch Ed speak it’s easy to think the man was born with as much confidence as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. But he’s said multiple times that he’s extremely shy and has to work hard on building self-confidence.

So how did he do it? By keeping the promises he made to himself.

He said when things were bad he knew he could only control certain parts of his life like a morning and evening routine or exercise. So if he said he would make 50 calls or lift for 60 minutes, he would always follow through.

He said that staying consistent helped him trust himself and gain confidence along the way.

(Tony Robbins Motivation)" width="750" height="422" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/T1Fo3bGQ0Yg?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen>

3. Raise The Thermostat

It’s no secret that if you want to be successful you have to spend time with successful people. Ed Mylett said that to be successful you have to raise your internal thermostat for success.

Meaning, if you hang out with people that are where you want to be regularly, they will bring you up with them. He sought after people more wealthy, fit, and successful than him. Eventually, over time he was able to raise his own level of success by surrounding himself with mentors and coaches.

4. Understand The Power of Your Mind

Ed Mylett talks in depth about using his mind to achieve his dreams. Mainly, by using your RAS (reticular activation system) to program his mind for success. While this sounds complicated, it really isn’t.

One way he recommends using your RAS is to set the lock screen of your phone with a list of your top five big goals. As the average person opens their phone at least 100+ times per day this is a constant reinforcement of seeing what you’re trying to achieve.

being worth hundreds of millions of dollars he still does this trick today!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-13557" src="https://www.fearlessmotivation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/EDFM1.jpg" alt="How to Make $400 Million and Create an Epic Life: Ed Mylett You matter.
5. Become Blissfully Dissatisfied

It’s easy to get comfortable and let your foot off the gas when things start going well in life. Ed Mylett combats this with the 80/20 rule.

Ed says to spend 80% of your time living in a state of pure bliss. He spends a majority of his time being grateful for life, family, and what accomplishments. But spends the other 20% in a state of frustration to feel the pain.

He says that this 20% will give you the motivation to succeed and take your life to the next level. Make sure to allocate correctly otherwise you’ll be in too much pain to take action.

Changing Perceptions About Healthy Body Shapes

Do you have a healthy body shape? For many people, the answer is defined solely by how much they weigh or whether they have a perfect hourglass figure. Many individuals focus their attention on measurements such as their chest, waist, and hip size, or they step on a scale to tally up the pounds. Sadly, many people judge their own and others’ health, and sometimes personal value, based on these numbers.

Step Off the Scale and Away From the Measuring Tape

The truth is that there’s a wide range of healthy body shapes and sizes. Rather than defining good physical health by shape and size, a more accurate approach to determining good health is through measurements of blood pressure, cholesterol levels, emotional health, and overall well-being. It’s easy to assume that a person with more belly fat is less healthy than a slender person. However, there are many, many factors that determine health. For example, a person with a slim build may look thin but have a larger percentage of body fat than another person with a different body type.

Perceptions About Heavy Bodies

In modern society, there’s a pervasive idea that extra weight means poor health. Assumptions are made about a person’s eating habits, self-control, self-esteem, and activity levels. All too often, when an individual carries extra weight, others assume that the individual can’t or won’t enjoy many physical activities. This is a stereotype that has been busted by athletes, such as Myrna Valerio, a marathon and ultramarathon runner recognized for her success.
It’s important to remember that body types and shapes are often heavily affected by genetics. Your genetic family history determines your bone structure, where you carry extra fat, your frame size, and the speed of your metabolism. The key to identifying healthy bodies lies in identifying the habits of the individual, not in taking their measurements.

Why Changing Perceptions Is Important

Why is it important to change society’s ideas about excess weight and heavy body types? Your perception of yourself does have an impact on your ability to enjoy a healthy lifestyle. When an individual believes s/he is overweight, s/he may have an intention to lose weight, but studies have found that it doesn’t inspire actual changes in diet and exercise. Conversely, when adolescents believe they are overweight, they are more likely to fall into unhealthy, and sometimes dangerous, habits.

Factors That Affect Body Image Perception

The deck is stacked against women, men, teens, and children who believe they are overweight. Every day, they are bombarded with messages about ideal body shapes and sizes. Advertisements on television, in magazines, and on the internet flaunt thin bodies, clearly defined muscles, narrow waists, and photo-edited skin. Adults, teens, and children face criticism from peers and feel pressure to mimic current trends whether they are healthy or not. Messages from companies selling diet plans and exercise equipment often add to existing stereotypes.

Negativity Doesn’t Lead to Positive Changes

Each of these messages tells the individual who feels overweight or underweight that they are somehow less than the people in those visual images. Remember that a negative perception of your own body does not lead to positive changes.

Recognize the Beauty of Your Body

At womenshealth.gov, a healthy body image is defined as positive feelings about your particular body shape. Those women and girls with a positive body image tend to enjoy better physical and mental health – even if they are overweight or underweight. Conversely, those who have negative feelings about their bodies are at greater risk for eating disorders and other mental health conditions. That negative body image may prevent men, women, and children from going out socially, exercising, or making healthy dietary choices.

Developing a Positive Body Image

One of the best ways to improve your perception of your own body is to focus on positive thinking rather than negative thinking. The National Eating Disorders Association recommends several tips for improving the way you think and feel about your body. For example, take time to really appreciate the things your body can do, such as breathing, laughing, and walking. Surround yourself with others who have a healthy, positive outlook on life. Cut out negative social media and any messages that limit your definition of what a healthy body looks like.

The next step is to focus on the things you can control in your life. After accepting your body shape and size, celebrate your own unique qualities and understand that you can enjoy a healthy, fulfilling life whether you’re a size 2 or a size 32. Learn how to make healthy eating decisions and find ways to incorporate exercise and physical activity into your days. Identify and look up to new role models, such as Christa Singleton, one of a group of Plus-Size Climbers who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2016. Refusing to let her size define her, Singleton is breaking through conceptions about size and health.

Get Treatment for Eating Disorders

If you’ve experienced or are experiencing eating disorders, seek treatment during this process. Again, there are many negative beliefs that may hold you back when the subject of eating disorders come up. Amelia Boone, an elite athlete, knows this all too well. Stories like Amelia Boone and her eating disorder treatment aren’t uncommon among athletes, but these stories aren’t often shared with the public. Move past the misconceptions and seek appropriate treatment.

Recognize the Things You CAN Change

If you are struggling with a negative self-image or the desire to make improvements in your life. You might start by changing your own ideas and discussions about the “ideal” body shape and size. Remember that your strength lies in conquering the things you can control without succumbing to popular ideas about body shape or despairing because of genetic factors you can’t change.

Are you mediocre? No one enjoys feeling stuck in mediocrity. No one wants to admit they’re mediocre.

Yet, many of feel that we are. So we try harder. Work harder.

People feel mediocre because they forget (or never figured out) why they’re here, and instead of following their purpose, they’re following safety, or worse just existing.

Take an example of a business owner who is scared to branch out and instead sticks with the same, limiting, mediocre business model. His new idea could catapult him into mega success but the fear of failure has arrested his progress, resulting in a much slower and more painful demise. Or a talented employee who is suffocated in her work environment, but stays with it, because she doesn’t believe she could do better.

Are you one of these people? Are you settling for less than your potential because you’re afraid?

What are you protecting yourself from? Pain? Failure? Ok. Fair enough. But, what about pleasure?

What would your life look like if you focused on your strengths, clarified your motivations, let go of cognitive dissonance, and followed your bliss?

Bliss is following excitement—about life, work, relationships … you name it.

Safety is avoiding pain. The former pushes us to self-actualize, fully and authentically; the latter, well, it keeps us mediocre.

Remember those times when, seemingly out of nowhere, an opportunity to transform yourself appeared and you experienced fear?

That was your higher self calling you to take your life to another level. To not “just settle” for mediocrity. Because you know, you can DO MORE and BE MORE.

Do not settle for a minute longer. Take a look at these six steps to kill mediocrity;

1. Clarify Your Purpose

Why are you here? What gets you out of bed in the morning? Are you excited? How are you expressing your inner fire through your daily actions? A clarity of purpose inspires courage within us to follow our bliss and overcome fears.

2. Take Inventory

Write out a list of things you do on a regular basis, both personal and professional, including projects you’re working on. What are your motivations for these activities? Be honest.

3. 75% Rule

Now, test the inventory against the idea that … to avoid mediocrity, you should be giving at least 75% of yourself to everything you do with 100% being the goal, of course. If you’re giving anything on your list less than 75% of yourself, why are you settling? Could you do better? Why or why not? Be truthful. If your answer is a lot of why nots, go back to #1 or check #4.

4. Dispel Cognitive Dissonance

We are creatures of comfort, and at some point in our lives, we built a view of the world and personal goals that would deliver this comfort, this pleasure to us. For example, you grew up poor, so making money was important to you. Fast forward 20 years, and you have made some money, but something is still missing … that’s because that belief is now a trap. After all these years, that belief has become a part of your identity and since it has always been important, it must still be important. It feels that way. But what if no longer is? What if it morphed in something else? What if it never were, but was only a function of survival and not your true desire? Dig deeper for answers and be aware, the brain can play tricks on us. Something may seem so true, but it isn’t. Don’t be tricked; it will rob you of greatness.

5. Shuffle

After you have completed these four steps, what concrete action can you take to change your life in a way that would lead to more opportunities to give 100% and less situations where you’re trapped, out of guilt, habit, or fear, and are giving less than you could? Does that mean quitting a job, seeking out a new opportunity, starting your business, writing that book, or seizing a new adventure? Whatever it might be, this is your opportunity to step up and transform your life in a tangible way.

6. Accountability

None of us is perfect and giving 100% on a regular basis, or even realising that we’re not, and thus falling into mediocrity, can be hard to both see and remedy alone. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to identify accountability mechanisms that would help push you to function at your 100%. These could be achieved through self-reflection, mentorship relationships, personal and professional development, a partner, and certainly a life coach. Whether you choose one or all of these, remember that the path to greatness is only, truly, possible with others by your side.

Doing what scares us is what makes us great. It forces us to level up.

The question remains: Are you going to settle for mediocrity or pursue greatness?
